Pyatras Aleksandravičius appeared ( lit. Petras Aleksandravičius , 1906-1997) - Soviet Lithuanian sculptor. People's Artist of the Lithuanian SSR ( 1956 ). Laureate of the Stalin Prize of the third degree ( 1951 ).

Biography

Born on October 8 ( October 21 ), 1906 in the village of Vartai (now the Prenai region of Lithuania ). Studied at the Kaunas School of Art ( 1928 - 1933 ); the teachers were Juozas Zikaras , Kajetonas Skleris , Juozas Mikenas . At the same time he studied literature at the University of Vytautas the Great .

In 1941 - 1944 he taught at the Vilnius Academy of Art, in 1945 - 1951 - at the Vilnius Art Institute (in 1951 transformed into the State Art Institute of the Lithuanian SSR ), since 1951 at the State Art Institute of the Lithuanian SSR; Professor ( 1946 ), head of the department of drawing ( 1955 - 1977 ).

Since 1935 he participated in exhibitions. The first solo exhibition was held in Vilnius in 1976 .

He died on December 25, 1997 in Vilnius .

Most of the works from bronze , copper , marble , granite are lyrical and psychological sculptural portraits made in various forms ( bust , head, relief ). He also painted watercolors with views of Vilnius and the surrounding area, seaside landscapes .

Author of sculptural portraits of the graphic artist Jonas Kuzminskis ( 1941 ), writer Julia Zhemaitė ( 1946 ), opera singer Kipras Petrauskas ( 1950 ), linguist Jonas Jablonskis ( 1957 ), sculptor Juozas Kedainis ( 1958 ), poet Eduardas Meželaitis ( 1963 ), 1967 Bali Sruogi ), theater director Juozas Miltinis ( 1969 ), poet and diplomat Jurgis Baltrūšaitis ( 1983 ). He created monuments to Laurinas Ivinskis in Kursenai ( 1958 ), Julia Жemaitė in Vilnius ( 1950 ; installed in 1970 ; Stalin Prize, 1950), to the writer Antanas Venuolis in Anykščiai ( 1982 ), Jonas Jablonskis in Marijampolė ( 1992 ).

The Жemaitė monument was unveiled on October 10, 1970 in Vilnius in a park named after the writer (architects Algimantas Nasvitis and Vytautas Nasvitis ). The monument was created according to a small sculpture of the writer of 1950 , enlarged several times, while the sculptor gave the figure more monumentality. The monument consists of a bronze statue 3 m high and a low (0.70 m) pedestal of granite blocks. A realistic statue depicts a seated writer with a book on her lap. On the eastern side of the pedestal is the inscription "Jam." [one]

He is the author of tombstones at the graves of Balis Sruoga ( 1957 ; Rasu cemetery) and others in Vilnius, Jonas Jablonskis ( 1966 ) and others in Kaunas .

Other famous works are the statue “Working” ( 1960 ), decorative reliefs “At a construction site” ( 1964 ), “The Sea is noisy” ( 1971 ), chamber sculptural groups.
