Fotosniper - the trade name for a set of photographic weapons manufactured by the Krasnogorsk Mechanical Plant (KMZ).
The "Photosniper" must be held in the same way as a regular shotgun - hence the name. The first "photo snipers" were produced for military use and were officially called the "manual apparatus for photo reconnaissance"
Photosniper photo guns were intended for hunting wild animals, as well as for other purposes .
History
The first “Photosniper” was launched by an experimental batch in 1937 by the State Optical Institute on the basis of the FED modified rangefinder camera . Since 1944, a similar model called "FS-2" began to be produced for the armed forces at the KMZ . “FS-2” had a wooden box of a gun type and a Tair-2 lens of 4.5 / 300 mm.
In the model “Photosniper FS-3” (1965-1982) and later, intended already for the consumer market, special modifications of small - format SLR cameras Zenit were used, and the camera can be removed from the box and used separately with any compatible lenses and other accessories.
