Properties

Slowly hydrolyzes with water. Anhydrous does not affect glass . Vigorously reacts with organic substances . Dissolves many metal fluorides (e.g. silver (I) fluoride ).

Very strong acid. Refers to superacids . The acidity function of pure acid is −15.07. The addition of 7% antimony pentafluoride to fluorosulfonic acid lowers the acidity function H 0 (i.e., increases acidity) to −19.4.
