Pozzallo ( Italian. Pozzallo ) - a city in Italy , located in the southern part of the island of Sicily , belongs to the province of Ragusa . The only maritime city in the province. It is washed by the Mediterranean Sea, has a port, from which catamarans regularly depart to Malta . The city has two beaches, one of them, Pietre Nere, for its environmental friendliness and cleanliness is marked by the Blue Flag. On weekends, local residents of neighboring provinces come to the sandy beaches of the town.

Pozzallo is the starting point of many bus routes: to Catania , to Syracuse , to Ragusa to Palermo (flight with a connecting change in Modica ), etc.
The founding date of Pozzallo is considered the 14th century, when the government of Modica decided to build a complex of warehouses and docks on the coast and began to trade with many ships. In 1429, Giovanni Bernardo Cabrero built a fortress on the shore, to protect against pirates, which is now the main attraction.
