Automatic locomotive alarm with automatic speed control

Automatic locomotive alarm with automatic speed control ( ALS-ARS ) - a system of devices that provides:

  • signal indication in the control cabin of the subway train and light rail , permitting movement in the presence of a free section of at least a calculated stopping distance with a maximum permissible speed or prohibiting movement and requiring a stop;
  • continuous monitoring of compliance with the permissible speed and automatic braking when the train (train) exceeds this speed;
  • automatic release of the brakes of the train (train) after reducing the speed to the maximum permissible and when the driver confirms vigilance;
  • automatic braking of the train (train) to its full stop: in front of the occupied section of the track, in front of the section of the track on which the integrity of the rail chain is violated, when the reception of signal commands by the train (train) is violated, before the traffic light with red light, if the speed is exceeded and the driver does not confirm it perception of braking from the ALS-ARS device;
  • control of the vigilance of the driver with the disconnected train devices of the APC.

ALS-ARS sets the maximum speed for the train depending on the distance to the train in front or other obstacles, so that the braking distance of the train when moving at this speed is less than the specified distance. Advanced ALS-ARS devices also take into account the speed of the train in front.

ALS-ARS is required to be installed on all metro lines under construction and under reconstruction, as well as on all new rolling stock.

Using ALS-ARS

On lines where ALS-ARS is not the main means of signaling (for example, on the Kirov-Vyborg line of the St. Petersburg metro ), it complements the self-locking system with hitchhikers and protective sections. The movement of trains that do not have ALS-ARS, or with faulty devices, is permitted provided that the train is serviced by a locomotive crew (engineer and assistant).

If ALS-ARS is the main means of signaling (as, for example, on the Right-bank line of the St. Petersburg metro or on the Sokolnicheskaya , Kalininsko-Solntsevskaya , Serpukhov-Timiryazevskaya and Arbat-Pokrovskaya lines of the Moscow metro), then the auto-lock traffic lights are normally turned off. In this case, the system is supplemented by a backup autonomous ARS device (DAU-ARS) and two signals ALS-ARS are output on the control panel in the driver’s cab - the main one (showing the speed at which traffic is allowed now) and the warning (showing the speed at which traffic will be allowed at next block).

For shunting traffic lights and for output traffic lights at stations with track development, a special indication is used - blue fire. For trains equipped with ALS-ARS, the blue signal is “allowing to follow the signal indications of ALS [1] in the driver's cab”, and for non-equipped or with faulty equipment ALS-ARS - prohibiting. If it is necessary to move the train without ALS-ARS, by the order of the train dispatcher at the train follow-up section, a backup alarm system is activated - self-locking signals without hitchhikers and protective sections, and the train follows its indications at a speed of no more than 20 km / h (when controlling the train in one person ) and no more than 35 km / h (when driving a two-person train or when managing a train in one person, by order of the train dispatcher and under his control, if the line is equipped with centralized dispatch). Failure of ALS-ARS devices on such lines leads to the disembarkation of passengers at the nearest station and the speedy removal of the train from the line - at the first station with track development.

On lines without ALS-ARS (for example, on the Filyovskaya line of the Moscow metro ), all trains are controlled by a brigade (as the metro workers say, “in two persons”). The gradual installation of ALS-ARS devices on such lines is ongoing. For example, on the Arbat-Pokrovskaya line in August 2009, the ALS-ARS system was put into operation on the western radius (from Kievskaya to Strogino ).

Indications

ALS-ARS for the subways of Russia and the countries of the former USSR may have the following indications:

  • “80”, “70”, “60”, “40” - it is allowed to follow at a speed not higher than the specified;
  • “0” - “stop required” within the given block section;
  • "RS" - "equality of speeds" on the next rail chain, the allowed speed is equal to or greater than on this rail chain (ARS-Dnepr)
  • “OCH” / “LF” (no frequency or no frequency) - “stop required” due to lack of ALS-ARS readings. This happens if two trains are on the same section, if the integrity of the elements of the rail chain is violated (including a break in the rail), if the route of reception or departure is not set, if there are faulty train or floor signaling devices , and when following unencrypted sections (in park, depot ways, at dead ends of stations). Driving at a speed not exceeding 20 km / h is allowed with the vigilance pedal depressed.
  • “ARS-AO” or “CAO” - “absolute stop signal” (electronic hitchhiking) - alternating signals “0” and “OCH”. You cannot drive under it even with the vigilance pedal depressed.

ALS-ARS installed in the Volgograd metrotram has the following indications:

  • “58”, “20” - it is allowed to follow at a speed not higher than indicated;
  • “0” - “a stop is required” within the given block section, station or dead end;
  • “OCH” / “LF” (no frequency) - “stop required” due to lack of ALS-ARS readings.

Action

In the case of movement within the set speed, ALS-ARS does not interfere with train control. If the set speed is exceeded, the ALS-ARS starts the braking of the train, which stops only after the speed is reduced to the set speed and the vigilance is confirmed by the driver. If the driver does not confirm his vigilance by pressing a button, ALS-ARS slows down the train to a complete stop.

If necessary, the driver, with the permission of the train dispatcher, can move even with the readings “0” or “LF” of ALS-ARS, but at a speed of no more than 20 km / h and with the vigilance button (pedal) pressed.

ALS-ARS may be assigned additional security functions. For example, on trains of the Rusich type, even if there are no ALS-ARS devices on the line (for example, they are not on the Filevskaya line of the Moscow metro), train equipment always monitors that the train complies with the maximum speed allowed in the Russian metro of 80 km / h. And at closed-type stations , the ALS-ARS devices are connected to station doors, prohibiting movement ("0") with the doors open or when the passenger is between the doors and the train. However, in 1994 on the Serpukhov-Timiryazevskaya line there were train collisions due to ALS-ARS. In 1989, due to the shutdown of the ALS-ARS system on the Komsomolskaya-Pionerskaya stage, a train collision occurred on the High-Speed Tram line in Volgograd.
