Biography
Born into a peasant family. He graduated from 8 classes. He worked as a glassblower in a glass factory.
In 1941, drafted into the Red Army . In 1943 he graduated from the Ulyanovsk Tank School .
Since May 1944 at the front. He commanded a self-propelled artillery installation of the 954th self-propelled artillery regiment of the 72nd rifle corps .
On August 15, 1944, reflecting the enemy attack, Sorokin’s crew destroyed the tank and 3 armored personnel carriers of the enemy. On August 17, 1944, he was the first to enter the USSR’s State border with East Prussia in the vicinity of the village of Bayorajce in the Lithuanian SSR , having destroyed 3 enemy tanks in battle, was wounded, but continued the battle.
Since 1945, a member of the CPSU . Demobilized in 1946. He returned to his hometown, where he worked at a glass factory.
Memory
In the village of Slavskoye, Kaliningrad Region , a museum of Sergei Sorokin was opened in a secondary school. In Nikolsk a street was named after him and a bust was established.
