Biography
Born in 1946 in the city of Gorky.
Since 1950, lives in Ulyanovsk.
He graduated from the Ulyanovsk Automotive College in 1964.
From 1965 to 1972 he worked as a designer at the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant .
In 1972 he graduated from the Ulyanovsk Polytechnic Institute .
1972-1973 - service in the Soviet army.
He began taking photographs from the age of 16.
Since 1974 he has been professionally engaged in photography.
He worked as a photographer in a museum, at a factory, in an art fund, and is published in newspapers and magazines.
Participates in various All-Union, All-Russian and international exhibitions.
Since 1992 - Member of the Union of Photographers of Russia .
Since 1995 he lived in Moscow. Currently, for economic reasons, he moved to a small village near Moscow.
Filmed in Russia and the former Soviet Union, in Chechnya and other hot spots. The characters of V. Schekoldin’s photographs are old people, children from orphanages, teenagers from correctional colonies and prisons, residents of nursing homes.
