Biography

Eckhard came from the house of the Nibelungides , the side branch of the Carolingians . His father, Hildebrand III, owned for some time County Autun in Burgundy. The patrimonial possessions of the house (Señori Perrasi and Bozhi) were also in Burgundy.

In 836, Eckhard inherited the family ownership of Perrasi. In 840, he also received the Burgundian county of Morvua . However, in 858, Eckhard, along with the Count of Troyes Ed I and Archbishop of Sans Venilon, came into conflict with the king of the West-Frankish Kingdom, Charles II Lysy, because of the election of Bishop Langres . As a result, the seniors dissatisfied with the king rose up and called for help from the king of the East-Frankish kingdom of Louis the German , Brother Charles, who invaded Burgundy. Only in January 859, Charles managed to expel his brother and suppress the uprising. Evrar and Ed eventually lost their counties.

However, in 863, Evrard received forgiveness and took possession of the county of Chalon . In 871, Eckhard also received the county of Macon and the southern part of Autunua . Perhaps it was at this time that Charolais and Brionne were separated from Autun , after which Charolais became part of Shalonsky county. Moreover, most of Charolais was already in possession of Eckhard (Señoria Perrasi, his patrimonial possession). The following year, Eckhard also received Autun after the death of his brother Bernard , concentrating large possessions in his hands.

He died in 877 and was buried in the monastery of Fleury-sur-Loire in Nevers . His possession was inherited by his nephew (by his second wife), Boson Vienne .

Marriage

1st wife: Albigunda ; 2nd wife: from 863/869 Rishilda , probably the daughter of Richard II , Count Amiens . It is not known whether he had children.
