Life
Frederick II was the youngest son of the Burggraf Nuremberg Frederick I and Sophia von Raabs. After the death of his father, approx. In 1200, he inherited the lands that passed to the Hohenzollern house through his mother, Sofia von Raabs, and became the burggraph of Nuremberg, under the name Frederick II. However, in 1218 (according to another version - in 1214 ) there was a redistribution of the inheritance between Frederick and his older brother Conrad . Friedrich transferred Nuremberg and the title of Burggraph to Konrad, and he himself received from him the indigenous possessions of the Hohenzollern in Swabia - the county of Zollern. As Count of Zollern, he adopted the name Frederick IV. Thus, the house of the Hohenzollern was divided into two branches: the Franconian and the Swabian .
