Biography
Born in Moscow on June 9, 1931 in a famous family. Her paternal grandfather was the philosopher Mikhail Mikhailovich Tareev , and her father was the Soviet therapist Evgeny Mikhailovich Tareev . Mother - professor-cardiologist Galina Aleksandrovna Raevskaya.
In 1955 she graduated from the First Moscow Medical Institute. I.M.Sechenova . She completed her residency and postgraduate studies at the Blood Transfusion Institute in Moscow, where she dealt with hepatology problems: clinical picture, diagnosis, treatment and outcomes of epidemic hepatitis, as well as functional hyperbilirubinemia.
Since 1961 I.E. Tareeva was engaged in nephrology, working in the father’s academic group at the Cardiology Research Institute of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences. Doctoral dissertation by I.E. Tareeva (1972) is devoted to lupus glomerulonephritis. In 1975 she moved to the First Moscow Medical Institute. I.M.Sechenova, and in the same year headed the problem laboratory of nephrology at the Clinic for Therapy and Occupational Diseases (now the Clinic for Nephrology, Internal and Occupational Diseases named after E.M. Tareev). Since 1981 - Professor, Department of Nephrology and Hemodialysis, Faculty of Postgraduate Professional Education. Since 1991, she simultaneously headed the Department of Nephrology and Hemodialysis of the Faculty of Postgraduate Professional Education, and since 1996, the Federal Center for Nephrology and Hemodialysis, created on their basis. Since 1995 - corresponding member of RAMS.
I.E. Tareeva is the author of more than 300 scientific works, including 7 monographs on various sections of internal medicine, and two manuals on nephrology. Among them are the monographs Epidemic Hepatitis (1970), Fundamentals of Nephrology (1972), Lupus Nephritis (1976), Satellite Nephropathies (1976), Clinical Nephrology (1983), Diagnosis and Treatment of Kidney Diseases (1985), "Treatment of Glomerulonephritis" (2000). I. E. Tareeva is the author of chapters in the manual Diagnosis and Treatment of Internal Diseases (1992), as well as in the Handbook of Nephrology (1986). Chief Editor of the Nephrology Management.
Together with her father, academician E. M. Tareev, I. E. Tareeva was the founder of the Soviet, and then Russian, nephrological school. Under her leadership, 6 doctoral and 29 master's theses were written.
I.E. Tareeva was the Chief Nephrologist of the Ministry of Health of the USSR (until 1992), a member of the board of the All-Union Society of Nephrologists, then the Society of Nephrologists of Russia. Since 1999, she headed it. She was a member of the editorial board of the international journal "Nefron", a regular participant in international nephrology symposia and congresses. For merits in the field of medicine Irina Evgenievna was awarded the title of Honored Scientist of Russia, she was awarded the Order of Merit to the Fatherland, II degree.
She was buried in Moscow at the Novodevichy cemetery [1] .
Contribution to Health Organization
I.E. Tareeva took part in the formation and development of the Soviet, and then the Russian nephrological service. Until 1992, she held the position of chief nephrologist at the USSR Ministry of Health, and was a member of the board of the All-Union Society of Nephrologists. In the 90s, she made a great contribution to the creation of the Scientific Society of Nephrologists of Russia (NONR), the successor to the All-Union Society of Nephrologists. At the second (fifth) congress of the People’s People’s People's Republic I.E. Tareeva was elected its chairman. Actively participated in the creation of a unified Russian register of patients with end-stage renal failure.
