Biography
Career
After learning the profession of a ballerina and subsequent work in the theater "de Arena", in 1953, Eva Wilma starred in several films. In 1954, Cassiano Gabush Mendes, one of the “founding fathers” of Brazilian television, director of the TV-TUPI television network, invited her to star in the comedy series (sitcom) Hello, Sweet! Based on the successful American television series I Love Lucy ".
Her partner in the series is actor John Erbert, whom she marries in 1955. In accordance with the name of the series, their duet (union) is popularly called a “sweet couple” [1] . The series remained on air until 1963. Eva continued to work for TV-TUPI, simultaneously acting in films and playing in the theater. The most successful works of the 70s, which made her famous throughout Brazil, were the roles in the telenovelas of Ivana Ribeiro “Women from the Sand” and “Travel”. The series "Women from Sand" (1973) is the first version of the television series known in our country as the Secret of the Tropicana . Eva Wilma performed the roles of the twin sisters Ruth and Raquel without the use of the “blue screen” and the computer, which became available later. In the second version of the series, which repeated the success of the first, the main role was played by Gloria Pires . For performing roles in the series “Women from the Sand” in 1974, she received the APCA trophy prize from the hands of Regina Duarte , who actually received it. Regina considered that Eva Wilma was more worthy of this award.
The series “Journey” (in which she played together with Tony Ramos ), which touches on the connection between the real and other worlds, based on the teachings of Allan Kardek , brings her in 1975 the second APCA trophy award for Best Actress on TV. The main role in the successful remake of this series in 1994 was played by actress Christiana Torloni.
In 1980, in connection with the collapse and closure of TV-TUPI, Eva moved to Rio de Janeiro and signed a contract with the Globus television company . Among the dozens of television series, the roles performed in the TV series “The Wheel of Fire” in 1986 and “The Unruly” in 1997 were especially striking at the “new place of work”. Eva Wilma - one of the most famous theater actresses in Brazil, she took part in more than 30 theatrical productions. Personal life
Eva Wilma was born in the family of a Russian Jewess and a German metallurgist, her parents always supported her daughter in the pursuit of art.
The first marriage with actor John Erbert lasted 21 years (1955-1976). They had two children - Vivien and John Jr. In 1977, Eve married another actor and director - Carlos Zaru, whose happy marriage lasted until his death in 2002. Carlos Zara died of complications caused by cancer of the esophagus.
Eva Wilma is the grandmother of four grandchildren.
