Malaya Sukharevskaya Square

At the intersection of Sretenka with the fence of the Earth City , an area appeared, which after the construction of the Sukharev Tower in 1692-1695 was divided into two parts. In the middle of the 19th century, the area that appeared to the left of Sretenka (if you look from the center) was called Malaya Sukharevka or Malaya Sukharevskaya Square. In 1934, the Sukharev Tower was demolished, and the entire space occupied by Sukharevsky Squares was renamed Kolkhoz Square - "in honor of the 1st All-Union Congress of Collective Farmers-Drummers and to commemorate the collectivization of agriculture." In 1939, it was divided into Small and Large Collective Farm Squares, which in 1994 returned the historical names of the Sukharevsky.

Malaya Sukharevskaya Square is located on the Garden Ring between Sadovaya-Sukharevskaya Street and Bolshaya Sukharevskaya Square . It starts from the intersection of the Garden Ring with Meshchanskaya Street , passes east, on the left to the north from it go Schepkina Street, Gilyarovskogo Street and ends at the intersection with Sretenka and Prospekt Mira. Further east along the Garden Ring begins the Big Sukharevskaya Square.

On the odd side

• No. 1 - a residential building (1950s) ^[1] , in this house in 1954-1969 lived the People's Artist of the RSFSR M.N. Bernes ^[2] .
• No. 3, building 2 - a residential building with a clinic (1951, architect K. I. Dzhus-Danilenko ) ^[1] . Today, the house houses the children's dental clinic number 36 of the Central Administrative District.

On the even side

• No. 6, buildings 1 - 4 - Profitable House of the Life Insurance Company (1873; rebuilt in 1899, architect N. D. Strukov ). Four 4-story buildings form an open square of a narrow courtyard. The lower floors were occupied by shops and taverns, the upper - inexpensive hotels. ^[4] All four buildings are settled, buildings 1 and 4 are deprived of roofs, ceilings and part of the main walls. It is listed in the Red Book of Archnadzor (an electronic catalog of Moscow's real-estate cultural heritage under threat). ^[four]
• No. 8 - Profitable House of Gethsemane Compound. In 1851, the Gethsemane monastery of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra , founded seven years earlier, was assigned an extensive land plot not far from the main courtyard of the Lavra on Samotyok , called the Trinity-Sukharevsky.
