Massimo Amphitheatres ( Italian: Massimo Amfiteatrof , Maxim Alexandrovich Amphitheatres ; February 27, 1907 , Paris - December 9, 1990 , Levanto ) - Italian cellist of Russian origin. The son of Alexander Amfiteatrov , brother of Daniel Amfiteatrov .

He studied at the Milan Conservatory with Gilberto Crepaks . In 1924 , at the invitation of Arturo Toscanini, he entered the La Scala Theater Orchestra, where he also performed as the first cello. Since 1931 , he played in the Italian Radio Symphony Orchestra in Turin , including soloing with the orchestra (in particular, in concerts by Luigi Boccherini , Joseph Haydn , Robert Schuman , Antonin Dvořák , Bohuslav Martinu ). He acted as a member of various chamber ensembles, of which the largest one was left working during the 1940-50s. Ornella Santoliquido's piano trio, which performed and recorded a lot with the Virtuosi of Rome Orchestra, and since 1956 functioned (with the participation of the violinist Bruno Juranna ) and as the Roman Quartet.
In the city of Levanto, where the Amphitheaters spent the last years of his life, a music festival named after him is held [1] .
