Biography

Klaus Schwab was born and raised in Ravensburg, in the family of the factory director. He studied at the gymnasium.

Klaus Schwab attended the Swiss Higher Technical School of Zurich . He studied mechanical engineering. After graduating from high school, Schwab received an engineering degree. In 1965, Schwab became a doctor of technical sciences (Dr. sc. Techn.). Schwab also studied at the University of the Swiss city of Freiburg, where he studied industrial economics. In 1967 he received a doctorate in economics (Dr. rer. Pol.). Schwab also graduated from Harvard University and received a Master of Public Administration from Harvard University (Master of Public Administration).

From 1971 to 2002, Schwab was a professor at the University of Geneva .

Since 1972 has been teaching business administration at the University of Geneva. Actively involved in the academic life of Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA). Like George Soros is a follower of the ideas of Karl Popper .

In 1971, Klaus Schwab organized the European Management Conference, at which the latest concepts of economic development were discussed and promoted. Since 1979, Schwab began publishing the annual Global Competitiveness Report, which published articles on economics, competition, and business experience around the world. Schwab establishes a foundation that becomes a unifying platform for discussion of global issues by leading politicians, economists and intellectuals. In 1987, this association was called the World Economic Forum .

In 1998, together with his wife, Klaus Schwab, founded the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship, and in 2004, he founded the Forum of Young Global Leaders . In 2011, he founded the Global Shapers Community, designed to initiate projects that can solve local problems, thereby changing the world for the better. Community members are young leaders from 20 to 30 years old.

Klaus Schwab is a member of many boards of trustees and boards of directors of various enterprises. He has been awarded numerous state awards and is an honorary professor at many universities.

Family

Klaus Schwab married since 1971 , has two children. Lives in a suburb of Geneva .
