Biography

Eckersley became a member of the Manchester United Academy team in July 2005 and soon began to play for the squad for players under the age of 18. However, in the 2005/06 season, he played only three matches, as he was forced to miss almost 8 months due to a serious injury. The following season, Eckersley firmly established himself at the base, having spent a total of 25 matches in all competitions. He also made his debut on February 15, 2007 for United's reservist team in a match against Bolton Wanderers , ending in a goalless draw. On May 8, Eckersley took part in the final match of the Manchester Grand Cup , in which United played with Manchester City ; the team lost with a score of 1: 3.

In the 2007/08 season, Eckersley played 23 matches for reserve in all competitions. United successfully performed in cup tournaments, winning the Lancashire Grand Cup and the Manchester Grand Cup , while Eckersley played in both winning finals. On December 12, 2007, the Englishman first entered the application of the main team of the “ Red Devils ” for the Champions League match against Roma . [one]

Eckersley continued to play for the reserve team in the 2008/09 season. On January 24, 2009, he made his debut for Manchester United's main squad in the FA Cup match against Tottenham Hotspur , taking to the field as a substitute for injured Fabio da Silva . [2] Three days later, on January 27, Eckersley took part in the first Premier League match for himself, replacing captain Gary Neville in the game against West Bromwich Albion in the 71st minute. The match ended with the victory of United with a score of 5: 0.

In July 2009, he signed a contract with Burnley, but subsequently played for this club only a few cup matches; he was leased several times - to the Plymouth Argyle Championship Club, to the Bradford City and Bury Second Football League clubs - and finally to the Toronto MLS club, where he played on a loan since April 2011, and in January 2012 moved there on an ongoing basis. As part of the “Toronto” became the two-time winner of the Canadian Championship .
