“Birds of Paradise” ( Ukrainian: Raysky Ptahs ) is a feature film directed by Roman Balayan . In 2009, the film won the Nika film award in the nomination “The Best Film of the CIS and Baltic Countries ” [1] .

Content
Story
The script was based on the storylines of the works of Dmitry Savitsky - the novel “Waltz for K.” (main) and the novel “Out of Nowhere with Love” (auxiliary). [2]
The events of the film take place in 1981. A young Kiev writer Sergei Goloborodko creates his debut novel, which his spiritual mentor Nikolai, a former political prisoner, wants to read. He knows how to fly like a bird, and teaches his beloved Katya and then Sergey.
Using their flying skills, Sergey and Katya, who left Nicholas for Sergey, leave the USSR. But in the end, Sergey will burn the manuscript of his novel and go crazy, Nikolai will die in prison, their muse Katya is also doomed.
