History

The first written mention of the village located on the territory of the present city of Aksay dates back to 1570 . In 1742, the Ust-Aksaysky camp appears on the map by the name of the river flowing here (from the Turkic "Ak-Su" - white water). [3]

Aksay district as an administrative unit has existed since 1936 .

Aksaysky district is located in the central part of the Rostov region and covers an area of ​​117.0 thousand hectares.

In the region of 36 industrial enterprises, 24 construction, 10 transport, 26 agricultural, about 200 peasant farms . Small business is represented by more than 800 enterprises. A significant share in the gross output of the region is:

  • agricultural sector of the economy - 19.8%,
  • transport - 8.8%,
  • construction organizations - 8.9%.

In the Aksay district of the Rostov region there are objects of cultural heritage of federal significance - historical, architectural, and monumental art monuments. These attractions include:

  • The Starocherkassk Historical and Architectural Museum - Reserve was established on the initiative of the writer Mikhail Sholokhov [13] . The museum-reserve includes the territory of the former city of Cherkassk (62.88 ha), many architectural monuments, including the Resurrection Military Cathedral (1706-1719) with the iconostasis of the 18th-19th centuries, the Ataman estate, the houses of trading Cossacks of the 18th century, and Cossack smokers. The museum also includes the following protected areas: Anninsky Fortress (1731, 50.2 hectares) - a monument of military-defensive architecture of the 18th century [14] , Rat Urochishche with the Transfiguration Church (1740, 41 hectares);
  • The complex of constructions of the Starocherkassk (Don) historical and architectural reserve: the Zhuchenkova fortress house. In 1671, Stepan Razin, chained in a chain, was later sent to execution in Moscow in the Zhuchenkovs' house;
  • Ephraim Compound: Ataman Palace, house church, office buildings;
  • House of Bulavin [15] . Kondraty Afanasevich Bulavin - a former military chieftain, led the uprising of the Cossacks in 1707-1708;
  • Cathedral of the Resurrection with a bell tower, 1719-1730;
  • Ratna Church;
  • The monastery tract (9.3 hectares) with a poplar grove on the site of the former Cossack town, the mass grave of the heroes of the "Azov Seat" in 1641, the remains of the foundation of the chapel monument, the mass grave of soldiers who died during the Civil War and the mass grave of soldiers who died during the years Great Patriotic War.

Cultural heritage objects of regional significance in the area include:

  • Church of St. John the Evangelist in the village of Grushevskaya ;
  • Savelyev ’s house, house of a credit partnership, house of a priest, house of a prosperous Cossack in the village of Starocherkasskaya .

Natural attractions include Mukhina Balka , which is a regional nature conservation area located in the city of Aksai. The beam is located in the east of Aksay, the slopes of the beam are covered with a mantle forest. Marshes cover most of the bottom of the beam. On the territory of the reserve is the military-historical museum of Aksay with an exhibition of military equipment.
