Biography

Parents - actress Olga Knipper and actor Mikhail Chekhov . After her parents divorced, she moved with her mother to Germany. But from the end of the 1920s, when her father, Mikhail Chekhov, also arrived in Germany, he had close contacts with him until his death in 1955. Ada named her youngest son Misha in honor of her father.

Ada also became an actress, but mainly a theater. Graduated from Berlin State Theater School.

In April 1935 she received her first film role - she was invited to star in the Austrian film Pompadour. In 1936, she played with her mother in the film “Favorite of the Empress”. Then also with his mother in the films “Through the Eyes of a Woman” (1942) and “Secrets of Matrimony” (1951). In addition, in her career there was only one more film - Clarissa (1941). The remaining roles were theatrical [4] .

The first husband of the actress is gynecologist Wilhelm Rust, from whom in 1940 her daughter Vera was born - a famous actress.

The second husband is the German boxer Connie Rax (11/26/1925 - 01/12/1995), who, after the end of World War II, returned from captivity and entered the professional arena. In 1949, he became the heavyweight champion. In 1952, he won the European Championship, but was soon knocked out by a Belgian boxer, after which he decided to end his career. He played a couple of minor movie roles: Der Frontgockel (1955) and Piccadilly null Uhr zwölf (1963).

The third husband is a German cameraman Franz Weimair (12/31/1903 - 05/26/1969). In 1931, he took part in the shooting of the cult lesbian film “Girls in Uniform,” which the Nazis would later ban. But, nevertheless, the operator gained special popularity just under their mode.

Tragically died in a plane crash on January 28, 1966. Lufthansa's Convair CV-440 Metropolitan aircraft at the Bremen airport crashed to the ground when leaving for the second round. 46 passengers were killed, including Ada Chekhov [5] [6] [7] . She was buried in the Grafelfing cemetery, near Munich.

The children of Vera and Mikhail were raised by their grandmother.
