SpeedCar Series is a winter auto racing championship in the bodywork class, held in Asian countries. The SpeedCar series was nicknamed the “Asian NASCAR, ” because the series race cars looked very similar to American stoke cars . Initially, the series was viewed as a “support race” for the GP2 Asia winter formula series, however, the participation in SpeedCare of many famous ex-pilots of Formula 1 ( Johnny Herbert , Gianni Morbidelli , Jacques Villeneuve , Alex Yong , Jyrki Järvilehto , Vitantonio Liuzzi , Jean Alesi and others.) made the SpeedCar series no less popular than the GP2 Asia.

The debut race of the series was held on January 25, 2008 in Dubai ( UAE ).

Since most of the stages were held in Muslim countries ( UAE , Bahrain , Qatar , Malaysia ), the races were held on Friday and Saturday, and not on Saturday and Sunday.

The first champion SpeedCara became ex- Formula 1 driver Johnny Herbert .

The second championship in the history of SpeedCar, unlike the first, took place at the end of the previous (2008) and the beginning of the next (2009) years, as well, for example, the A1 Grand Prix World Cup.

In the 2008/2009 season, another ex-F-1 pilot Gianni Morbidelli became the champion.

June 30, 2009 announced the termination of its existence [1] .
