William Anthony "Toni" Parker [1] ( eng. William Anthony "Tony" Parker ; born May 17, 1982 , Brugge , Belgium ) is a French [2] professional basketball player , point guard . He was chosen under the 28th number in the 2001 draft . The NBA champion of the 2002/03, 2004/05, 2006/07, 2013/14 seasons in the San Antonio Spurs . European Champion 2013 in the national team of France . The San Antonio Spurs is a member of the so-called “ big trio ” ( Tim Duncan , Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker).

Early years

Tony Parker was born in the Belgian city ​​of Bruges [4] , but grew up and studied in France [1] . His father, Tony Parker Sr., is a former professional basketball player who played for the Loyola University of Chicago team [5] . Parker's mother Pamela Firestone is from the Netherlands , she is a professional model [1] .

Tony Parker and his brothers often attended his father's games as a very young boy, although at that time Tony was not keen on basketball. Before the start of the draft of 2001, he was invited by the San Antonio Spurs team to participate in a summer training camp. The first experience of the game was depressing - team scouts and former player Lance Blanks came out against him. Blanks was so superior to Parker in defense and physical training that coach Gregg Popovich was ready to abandon the player after 10 minutes of training [7] . Tony Parker was married to actress and model Eva Longoria (older than Parker for 7 years), known for his role as Gabrielle Solis in the TV series Desperate Housewives . The wedding took place on July 7, 2007 (07/07/07) in the 12th century Paris Catholic church of Saint-Germain-L'oceroy, where French kings were once married [18] . On November 17, 2010, Longoria filed for divorce because of "insurmountable differences."
