William Anthony "Toni" Parker [1] ( eng. William Anthony "Tony" Parker ; born May 17, 1982 , Brugge , Belgium ) is a French [2] professional basketball player , point guard . He was chosen under the 28th number in the 2001 draft . The NBA champion of the 2002/03, 2004/05, 2006/07, 2013/14 seasons in the San Antonio Spurs . European Champion 2013 in the national team of France . The San Antonio Spurs is a member of the so-called “ big trio ” ( Tim Duncan , Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker).

Early years
Tony Parker was born in the Belgian city of Bruges [4] , but grew up and studied in France [1] . His father, Tony Parker Sr., is a former professional basketball player who played for the Loyola University of Chicago team [5] . Parker's mother Pamela Firestone is from the Netherlands , she is a professional model [1] .
Tony Parker and his brothers often attended his father's games as a very young boy, although at that time Tony was not keen on basketball. He was more attracted to football, and he never dreamed of any basketball career. But after watching a film about Michael Jordan , he radically changed his mind. He began to actively study the strategy of the game and occupied himself with constant training. In the end, Tony achieved amazing results. Parker has become a key point guard in his team. He began to invite various basketball organizations, among them was the National Institute of Sport and Physical Education in Paris. After several games in a non-professional league, Parker signed a promising contract with the Paris Basket Racing team.
In 2000, Parker was invited to the Nike Hoop tournament held in Indianapolis . There, in front of coaches, he competed with professionals such as Darius Miles , Zach Randolph and Omar Cook .

Before the start of the draft of 2001, he was invited by the San Antonio Spurs team to participate in a summer training camp. The first experience of the game was depressing - team scouts and former player Lance Blanks came out against him. Blanks was so superior to Parker in defense and physical training that coach Gregg Popovich was ready to abandon the player after 10 minutes of training [7] . However, after viewing the tape with the “best moments” of the game, Parker Popovich decided to give the player one more chance [8] .
In the 2001 NBA draft, Parker was selected by the San Antonio Spurs. In 2003, 2005 and 2007,2014, the San Antonio team won the NBA tournament. In 2007, Tony Parker received the title of MVP playoffs NBA.
June 10, 2019 announced his retirement in basketball. [9]
National Team
For the national team of France, Parker began to speak at the level of youth teams, took part in the 1997 European Championship among juniors under 16 years old. Unfortunately, the team took only fourth place. Later he spoke at the European Championships in 1998 and 2000 among young men under 18 years old. He also played at the 2002 UEFA European Under-20 Championship. In 2000, he became the MVP of the tournament, and the national team became the European champion. At the tournament, Parker scored an average of 14.4 points and gave 2.5 assists [8] [10] [11] . At the 2002 European Championships, Parker scored 25.8 points, gave 6.8 passes and made 6.8 interceptions on average per game. [1] [10]
With the national team of France spoke at the Eurobasket 2001 , 2003 , 2005 , 2007 , 2009 , 2011 and 2013 .
At Eurobasket 2005, the French team in the match for third place won the Spanish national team with a score of 98-68 and won the "bronze" [12] . Since 2003, Parker became the captain of the national team. The French team took part in the 2006 World Cup , but Parker could not help her by breaking a finger in a match against the Brazilian national team . [13] In the nine matches of Eurobasket 2007, Parker scored an average of 20.1 points and gave 2.8 passes, [14] but the French team in the quarter-finals lost to the Russian team . [15] After injuries sustained in the 2009–10 NBA season, Parker took part in the 2010 World Cup . [16] At Eurobasket 2011 , the French team reached the final, losing to the Spanish team. [17] The player also participated in the national team games at the 2012 Olympic tournament in London . In 2013, Parker with the French national team became the champion of Europe .

Personal life
Tony Parker was married to actress and model Eva Longoria (older than Parker for 7 years), known for his role as Gabrielle Solis in the TV series Desperate Housewives . The wedding took place on July 7, 2007 (07/07/07) in the 12th century Paris Catholic church of Saint-Germain-L'oceroy, where French kings were once married [18] . On November 17, 2010, Longoria filed for divorce because of "insurmountable differences."
From August 1, 2014 [19] he was married to journalist Accell Francis with whom he met 3 years before their wedding. November 14, 2013 it became known that the couple is awaiting the birth of a son. [20] . The spouses have: son Josh [21] Parker (born on April 30, 2014) [19] .
In 2012, Parker and his brothers opened their own nightclub in San Antonio .
In 2014, Tony Parker bought a controlling stake in the club ASVEL, based in Lyon. In 2016, this team became the champion of the country.
In March 2017, Parker acquired another French basketball club, he became the owner of the Lyon women's club [22] .
He played the role of a basketball player in the film “ Asterix at the Olympics ”.
