Biography

Born on January 5 ( January 16 ), 1732 in Astrakhan, where his father was exiled to the reign of Empress Anna Ioannovna . Empress Elizabeth Petrovna , who ascended the throne, favored the comrades-in-arms of her father, Peter I , summoned Ivan Antonovich from exile to St. Petersburg, where on November 29 ( December 10 ), 1741 , he was granted the status of state councilors and was appointed at the court of Her Majesty “to send room writing ”.

In 1742, I.A. Cherkasov sent Ivan Ivanovich and his older brother Alexander Ivanovich to the UK , where they attended lectures at Cambridge University . In 1747, A.I. Wife (from July 29, 1762) - Princess Elizabeth Mikhailovna Beloselskaya (1742-1807), maid of honor of the court (1755), daughter of Prince M. A. Beloselsky , granddaughter of Count G.P. Chernyshev and the famous Avdotya Rzhevskaya . According to a contemporary, the Baroness was a woman who never changed her duty. Not being a beauty, she was very smart, was engaged in literature and had some influence on Prince Potyomin . In her letters she called the brightest one “my beautiful cherub”, then “the adorable, sweet and almighty prince with an unparalleled heart” - then “my clever father” [3] . Her marriage was childless. She died during a trip abroad in March 1807 in Lublin and was buried in a local Greek church [4] .
