Mariotti, Giovanni

Giovanni Mariotti ( Italian: Giovanni Mariotti ; May 1, 1850 , Parma - February 28, 1935 , Rome ) - Italian public figure, Syndic (chief executive) of Parma for many years.

He headed the city administration in 1889 - 1890 , 1893 - 1894 , 1896 - 1906 and 1910 - 1914 . He is considered a reformer who has noticeably changed the urban architectural environment and urban cultural life. In particular, Mariotti owns the initiative of the revival of the Farnese Theater and the reorganization of the Royal School of Music, transformed into the Parma Conservatory with the active participation of Giuseppe Verdi and with the participation of prominent Italian musicians ( Giovanni Bottesini , Arrigo Boyto , Franco Faccio and others).

The collection of city photographs compiled by Mariotti and his nephew Giuseppe Miqueli constituted a separate valuable fund in the Parma Biblioteca Palatina [1] .
