Description
The principle of operation is based on the discharge of powder gases through a side opening in the barrel, with a long piston stroke. The machine gun is equipped with a gas regulator. The gas regulator has three positions, which allows you to increase or decrease the pressure of gases on the piston in order to reduce pollution and regulate the rate of fire. The barrel is locked by tilting the bolt in the horizontal plane with the help of two protrusions that enter the grooves on the sides of the receiver. After the bullet is taken out of the barrel, the bolt comes out of the clutches with the receiver and returns, the sleeve is removed from the chamber and ejected from the machine gun. When returning to the initial position, the bolt sends the new cartridge into the chamber, and the last movement of the piston engages the bolt with the barrel of the machine gun. [2]
The machine gun has a folding bipod. In 1994, the “Mini-SS” set was created for the SS-77, which allows the remaking of a 5.56 × 45 mm machine gun. Conversion from a version of 7.62 mm to 5.56 mm and back can be carried out in the field.
The fire is only in queues. The supply is carried out from the tape: loose American M13 and South African R1M1 or segmented German DM1. M13 and R1M1 can be interchanged, the use of DM1 requires the replacement of individual parts of the cartridge feeder. Quick-barrel with longitudinal cooling fins.
The machine gun is equipped with a mechanical sight at 200-1800 m. [3] There is a handle for carrying.
