Gostivar ( Maced. Opshtina Gostivar , Alb. Komuna e Gostivarit ) is a community in Northern Macedonia . Located in the northwest of the country. The population is 81,042 people ( 2002 ) [2] .

The administrative center is the city of Gostivar .
The area of the community is 483.43 km² [3] .
Borders on communities of Northern Macedonia:
- in the north - with the community of Vrapcishte ;
- in the northeast - with the community of Brvenica ;
- in the east - with the community of Macedonski Brod ;
- in the southeast - with the Oslomey community ;
- in the south - with the Zayas community ;
- in the south-west - with the community of Mavrovo and Rostush ;
In the west, it borders with the Kukes prefecture of Albania , and in the northwest with the Dragash community of the autonomous region of Kosovo and Metohija [4] Serbia .
In addition to the city of Gostivar , the community also includes 34 villages [3] : Balin-Dol , Beloviste , Brodets , Vrutok , Gorna Banyitsa , Gorno-Yelovets , Gorna-Govinovitsa , Debrechet , Dolna Banyitsa , Dolno-Yelovets , Dolna Gönovitsa , Zheleznaya River , Zdunya , Korito , Kunovo , Lakavitsa , Leshnitsa , Little Turks , Merdita , Mitra-Krsti , Padalishte , Pechkovo , Simnitsa , Srbinovo , Sushitsa , Strayan , Raven , Rechane , Trnovo , Tumchevishte , Käle , Forino Chegrane .
The ethnic structure of the population in the community [2] :
- Albanians - 53,283 people. (66.37%);
- Macedonians - 15 870 people. (19.77%);
- Turks - 7991 people (9.95%);
- gypsies - 2237 people. (2.79%);
- Serbs - 160 people. (0.20%);
- Bosnians - 39 people. (0.05%);
- Arumins - 15 people (0.02%);
- the rest - 685 people. (0.85%).
