Ivan Petrovich Kulnev ( 1765 , Bryansk - 1840 , Pskov ) - Russian major general , hero of the Patriotic War of 1812, commander of the right flank of the Russian troops in the first Polotsk battle , in 1813-1815 - commandant of Danzig .

The early years
The son of the lieutenant of the Kargopol Carabinieri Regiment - subsequently the second major of the same regiment in retirement and the city mayor of Lutsin - Pyotr Vasilyevich Kulnev (1727-1795 or 1798) and Louise Ivanovna Grebenits (c. 1745-1811), brother of Major General Yakov Petrovich Kulnev .
The year of birth is unknown. In the Kulnev formulary list dated February 28, 1819, published by L. K. Rosenshild-Paulin [1], it is stated βfrom the age of 53β - that is, the year of birth is approx. 1765. The same date is indicated by A. A. Mikhailov on July 8, 1765, [2] however, it is generally accepted that Ivan is older than Jacob. [3]
He was brought up in the land gentry corps in St. Petersburg (1770-1785) [4] , from where he was graduated with a large silver medal.
Track record
- 02/18/1785 identified as lieutenant in the Chernigov Infantry Regiment ;
- On January 3, 1788, he was transferred to the Overland Gentry Corps as second lieutenant ; on February 9, 1778, the lieutenant was there;
- 01.01.1795 issued by lieutenant colonel in the Smolensky Dragoon Regiment ;
- 03.03.1797 transferred to the St. Petersburg Grenadier Regiment , 07.07.1797 appointed as its regimental commander;
- 04.04.1798-30.04.1799 - Colonel of the St. Petersburg Grenadier Regiment;
- 04/30/1797 - promoted to major general with the appointment of chief of the former Musketeer Butkevich regiment , who received the name "Musketeer Major General Kulnev Regiment" (later: Belozersky Infantry Regiment );
- 05.13.1799-21.07.1799 - Chief of the Astrakhan Grenadier Regiment ;
- 07.21.1799 - expelled from the service;
- 06/04/1801 - accepted for service as commander of the St. Petersburg Grenadier Regiment ;
- 12.19.1802 - determined by the chief of the Revel garrison regiment ;
- 03.03.1810 - at the request of J. P. Kulnev returned to the army and appointed chief of the Vologda Infantry Regiment in the Caucasus;
- 10.28.1811 - resigned;
- 08/26/1812 - again accepted for service, was in the case of Count Wittgenstein;
- 6-7.09.1812 - commanded the right flank in the battle of Polotsk, for which he received the Order of St. Vladimir of the 3rd degree. He participated in the battles near Chashniki (10/19/1812), near the village of Stuyanka on the Berezina (mid-November 1812). In 1813 he was besieged by Danzig, after which he was appointed commander of the Russian and captured French troops stationed in Danzig (until 1815).
Until May 20, 1824 he was chairman of the commission of inquiry in the 2nd district of communications.
In 1830 he was included in the Genealogy book of the Pskov nobility (2 part).
Dismissed from service on January 2, 1834. Since 1815 he lived almost without a break in Pskov .
Family
- The first wife is VALUEVA Daria Alekseevna (d. 1810), from her daughter or two daughters.
- The second wife is KAMENTSOVA Olympiada Sergeevna (d. 1874, Pskov), from her 1 son and 2 daughters.
- Children:
- Glyceria Ivanovna (b. 1806), daughter of 1 marriage, died in girlhood;
- daughter from 1 marriage, died in infancy (born 1809);
- Maria Ivanovna (1816-1904), from the 2nd marriage, in the marriage of Stolgan,
- Yakov Ivanovich (05/18/1821 - 09/18/1872),
- Elizaveta Ivanovna (born 12.04.1824, Pskov).
Rewards
- He was awarded the Order of St. Vladimir of the 3rd degree for commanding the right flank in the battle of Polotsk.
- For the war of 1812 he was awarded the Golden Sword "For Courage".
- In 1821 he was awarded the French Legion of Honor (officer of the order).
