Biography
He was born on December 20, 1904 ( January 2, 1905 ) in the city of Chernigov in the family of an employee. Jewish by nationality. In 1920, he moved with his family to Gomel , where he graduated from high school. He worked as a commodity specialist in the city of Slonim, Grodno region of Belarus . Member of the CPSU (b) since 1939 .
In the Worker and Peasant Red Army since June 1941. He graduated from the courses of political workers. In the battles of World War II from August 1941. He fought on the Bryansk, Voronezh and Steppe fronts. He took part in the Moscow and Stalingrad battles. He fought on the Kursk.
The party organizer of the guard battalion, Lieutenant Yudashkin distinguished himself when crossing the Dnieper in the area of the village of Borodaevka ( Verkhnedneprovsky district of the Dnipropetrovsk region ).
On the night of September 25, 1943, as part of an amphibious assault force, at hand means, under enemy fire, crossed the Dnieper. Replaced the wounded squad leader. He skillfully organized the breakthrough of the paratroopers in the village of Borodayevka and the reflection of the enemy’s counterattacks. He died on September 26, 1943, was buried in the village of Pravoberezhnoye, Verkhnedneprovsky District.
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 26, 1943, for successfully crossing the Dnieper River , firmly securing and expanding the bridgehead on the western bank of the Dnieper River, and showing courage and heroism to the guard, Lieutenant Girsh Khatskelevich Yudashkin was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union (posthumously) [2] .
