To meet the high standards of the airport and increase the level of passenger service, duty-free shops have connected to the MyDutyFree pre-order service . [2] For payment, except for plastic cards , cash is accepted: Azerbaijani manats , US dollars , euros and Russian rubles .
The airport meets the requirements of international standards. Due to its very favorable geographical location, the Airport in Baku became the number one airport in the region for transit flights between East and West, North and South [3] . The official airport website is www.airport.az

Terminals
There are two passenger terminals and two cargo terminals at Heydar Aliyev International Airport.
The old passenger terminal built in Soviet times was completely dismantled and a new international Terminal 1 was erected in its place. The four-story engineering concept was developed in 2010 by Arup, in the shape of a triangle with a translucent roof inside. The interior, designed by the Turkish company AUTOBAN, has a number of cocoons made of oak veneer.
In Terminal 1, there is a baggage handling equipment from Van Der Lande, as well as a baggage screening equipment, L-3 scanners, designed to obtain a layer-by-layer image of the internal structure of the object.
The telescopic traps of Terminal 1 are capable of simultaneously receiving 12 aircraft. Two ladders are provided for the reception of the world's largest passenger aircraft - Airbus A380 .
There are 30 escalators and 21 Schindler elevators installed throughout Terminal 1. Terminal 1 is equipped with the BMS system (Building Management System), which is designed to automate processes and operations that are implemented in modern buildings and is the technical basis of the so-called intelligent buildings. Also Terminal 1 is equipped with a separate system for the provision of resources such as electricity, lighting, ventilation, heating, air conditioning, water supply and sewerage.
Terminal 1 was commissioned in April 2014. The total area of 65 000 sq. M. The passenger traffic of the Terminal is designed for 6 million passengers a year. Today, Terminal 1 serves up to 3 million passengers a year. The total parking area of 20,000 m², designed for 600 cars.
In May 2018, Terminal 1 was assigned the category "5 stars" from Skytrax , an influential British consulting company specializing in studying the quality of services provided by various airlines and airports around the world [4] .
The author of the project of Terminal 2, currently serving both local flights (southern entrance) and international flights of airlines - low - cost airlines (northern entrance) is the architect Denisov Viktor Vasilyevich. The project was awarded 1 prize in the 1981 competition. The project was implemented in 1989.
