He graduated from the Paris Conservatory as a violinist ( 1926 ), but then decided to continue his education as a conductor and studied there with Reynaldo Ana . Since the mid-1920s worked as the music director of newsreels at the Gaumont film studio, composing background music for various news stories; He also wrote music for feature films.
Tsypin completely devoted himself to conducting since 1941. He formulated his credo as follows:
I prefer young people who have something to say, and no matter how deeply I admire the great masters of the past, I consider it my duty to make famous the works of our days [2] .
The closest creative community connected Tsypin with Arthur Onegger . Tsypin, in particular, made the first recordings of the oratorio “Cry of the World”, the dramatic legend “Nikolai from Fleu”, “Christmas Cantata”. Other works first recorded by Tsypin include Psalm 47 by Florent Schmit , First Cuban Suite by Alejandro Garcia Caturla , Third and Fifth Symphonies by Jean Rivier , compositions by Albert Russell , Georges Orique , Darius Millau , Francis Pulenko . He also conducted the first performances of Jacques Iber 's ballet The Wandering Knight, Ruth Jeeps Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra, Rene Schallan's Second Symphony and others. Tsypin collaborated with the Russian Monte Carlo Ballet and the Roland Petit ballet troupe, often performed and recorded with Samson Francois as a soloist. In 1960 - 1965 he led the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra .
As a violinist, he also recorded several gramophone records of Jewish folk music at 78 revolutions (including freillechs and Yiddish songs). [3] [4] [5] In 1930, along with baritone Jacques Barzilay and his brother, cellist and director Joseph Tsypin (1904–?), He participated in the preparation of a series of ethnographic recordings of Jewish music for Paris radio, wrote music for his brother’s productions.
