Sir Joseph Rotblat ( eng. Sir Joseph Rotblat ; November 4, 1908 , Warsaw - August 31, 2005 , London ) - British physicist and radiobiologist, public figure, member of the Royal Society of London (1995), Nobel Peace Prize laureate for efforts towards nuclear disarmament (1995), one of the founders and leaders of the Pugwash movement of scientists , an honorary and foreign member of several academies of sciences and scientific societies.

Biography
He came from a family of Polish Jews. He defended his doctorate at the University of Warsaw. He worked in the radiological laboratory of the Warsaw Scientific Partnership. In 1939 he left for permanent residence in the UK, and in 1946 received British citizenship. In 1998 he received the title of sir. The author of numerous scientific works in the field of atomic and nuclear physics. He was a foreign member of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
