Biography

Born in the Saratov province in the family of a poor peasant . By nationality Russian [1] . In the revolutionary movement since 1905 . In 1906 he joined the RSDLP . He is an active worker in the Kamyshin United Social Democratic Organization, a participant and one of the organizers of the armed uprising of 1906 in Kamyshin. After the uprising, he moved to an illegal position, worked in Baku , Astrakhan , and since 1910 - in St. Petersburg . For his revolutionary activities, he was repeatedly arrested, deported and spent more than 6 years in prison altogether [2] .

During the February Revolution, Bakayev worked as a turner at the Mechanical Russian-Baltic Aeronautical Plant in Petrograd [2] .

After the October Revolution he was deputy secretary, secretary of the Petrograd Soviet (1917) [2] [3] . He was the deputy chairman of the Petrosoviet, a member of the Petrogubispolkom Chukovsky K. I. Complete works . - T. 11. - S. 557 ..

In 1918 - 1919 - Commissioner of the 3rd Division (Ural Front), and then the 2nd Division (Petrograd Front). He participated in the preparation and led, together with Storozhenko, the fighting of the consolidated column against the fort "Krasnaya Gorka " during its capture by the White Guards [2] .

In 1919-1920 - Chairman of the Petrograd GubChK. Since September 1920 - authorized representative of the Cheka in the South-Eastern Territory [2] [3] .

In 1922, he was the executive director of the Petrograd district hunger strike relief commission. In subsequent years, he was the head of the political department and a member of the Revolutionary Military Council of the Leningrad Military District, chairman of the Leningrad Provincial Control Commission of the RCP (b) - VKP (b) (1925-1926) [3] , authorized by the NKRK in the North-West Region [2] .

For membership in the left opposition , he was expelled from the Central Control Commission on November 14, 1927 , and on December 18, 1927, at the XV Congress of the CPSU (B.) , Among 75 “active figures of the Trotskyist opposition” he was expelled from the party [13] . After filing an application for withdrawal from the opposition in 1928, reinstated in the party [3] .

He worked as chairman of the Leningrad CHX and assistant chairman of the Leningrad Executive Committee. In 1934, he was the manager of the Glavenergoset (Moscow) [3] .

After the murder on December 1, 1934, S. M. Kirov was again expelled from the CPSU (b). He was arrested on December 9, 1934, and in January 1935 appeared as a defendant in a closed trial in the case of the so-called “Moscow center”. On January 16, 1935, he was sentenced to 8 years in prison on charges of leading a counter-revolutionary terrorist organization by the Military Collegium of the USSR Supreme Court . He served a term in the Chelyabinsk Special Purpose Prison.

In August 1936 he was transferred as an accused to the First Moscow trial - in the case of the so-called “united Trotskyist-Zinovievsky center”. Like all the defendants, on August 24, the Military Collegium of the Supreme Court of the USSR was sentenced to capital punishment. Shot the next day [3] [14] . He was buried in Moscow at the Don cemetery (grave 1) [14] .

Rehabilitated by the Plenum of the Supreme Court of the USSR on July 13, 1988 [14] .

Wife - Anna Petrovna Kostina, member of the CPSU (b) since 1917, secretary G.E. Zinoviev, was shot in 1937.
