Early years
Fabio was born in Petropolis , the “city of Petra,” which is about an hour’s drive from Rio de Janeiro . He started playing football at the age of 5. Fabio and his twin brother Rafael played football in teams of five to five. They were noticed by the Fluminense scouts, who invited them to play for the club. The twins agreed and at the age of 11 they moved to the training center "Fluminense", where they constantly lived and conducted trainings [3] .
Club career
Fluminense
Fabio started playing football in the position of the defensive midfielder , but then became a left-back quarterback in Fluminense [4] . In 2005, Fabio and Raphael played at the youth tournament in Tokyo, where they were noticed by a scout from the English club Manchester United , Les Kershaw. Kershaw noted the game of two talented Brazilians and recommended them to Alex Ferguson [4] . The Manchester United management agreed to see the twins in Manchester in 2005. Shortly thereafter, a scout from London’s Arsenal met the twins, offering them a viewing in London without the permission of Fluminense, but their mother dissuaded them from doing so [5] . As a result, Fabio and Raphael chose Manchester United and signed a contract with the English club in 2007, without playing a single match for the main team of Fluminense [6] .
Manchester United
Fabio and Rafael signed a contract with Manchester United in February 2007, but they could not play for the club until they reached the age of 18 in July 2008 [7] . Fabio made his debut for Manchester United on August 4, 2008, replacing Patrice Evra in a friendly match against Peterborough United . Fabio, along with Raphael, received a very high rating for his game in this match [8] [9] .
In the 2008/09 season, Fabio regularly played for Manchester United's reserve line-up , scoring five goals in eight games, including a hat-trick to the Rochdale goal in the Grand Cup of Lancashire on March 16, 2009 [10] . On January 24, 2009, Fabio made his debut for the first team of United in an official match: it was the game of the fourth round of the FA Cup against Tottenham . At the beginning of the second half, he was injured and was replaced by another debutant, Richard Ackersley [11] . On August 16, 2009, Fabio made his debut in the Premier League match against Birmingham City [12] . On September 23, 2009, Fabio was out in the starting lineup for the Football League Cup match against Wolverhampton , but in the 30th minute he was sent off for a rough foul against Michael Kaytli [13] .
On October 21, 2009, Fabio made his debut in the UEFA Champions League , coming out of the United team for the game against CSKA Moscow . Sir Alex Ferguson was satisfied with the actions of Fabio, especially with regard to playing on the unusual Luzhniki artificial turf [14] . On October 27, Fabio received a yellow card for a foul committed by his twin brother Rafael in the Football League Cup match against Barnsley . Manchester United appealed to the Football Association , and the yellow card was withdrawn from Fabio and recorded on Raphael [15] . On April 1, 2010, Fabio signed a new contract with Manchester United, according to which he will remain at the club until at least June 2014. [16]
On February 26, 2011, Fabio scored his first goal for the main team of Manchester United in the Premier League match against Wigan , which ended with a score 4: 0 [17] . March 12, Fabio opened the scoring in the quarterfinal match of the FA Cup against Arsenal ; the game ended with the victory of United with the score 2: 0 [18] .
Queens Park Rangers (rental)
In the summer of 2012 I went to rent in the Queens Park Rangers Club in London for a period of one season [19] .
Cardiff City
In January 2014, he moved to the Welsh club " Cardiff City " [20] .
Middlesbrough
On August 12, 2016, he moved to the English club Middlesbrough , who returned to the Premier League [21] . On August 24, he made his debut for the “river crews” in the League Cup match against Fulham (1: 2), where he was assisted with an assist on the 8th minute, but was injured in that episode and was replaced [22] .
On August 22, 2017, he scored the first goal for Middlesbrough in the League Cup match against Scunthorpe United (3: 0) [23] .
Nantes
July 18, 2018 he moved to the French club Nantes , signing a three-year contract. [24]
