The predominant population is residents of N. Novgorod who visit the village on weekends and on vacation. The indigenous population of the village is pensioners and makes up about 10 households.
The village of Lykovo is valued as an ecologically clean and “untouched by civilization” place due to a number of factors:
1. At present, there is no public transport connecting the village with any other settlements. Residents move between the village and N. Novgorod by private car (travel time is about 2.5 hours) or by public transport on the route: N.Novgorod- Semenov electric train, Semenov - Khakhaly bus , Hakhaly- Aristovo- Lykovo pedestrian crossing (total travel time about 6 hours).
2. The lack of an asphalt road. The following sections of roads connecting the village with N. Novgorod are unpaved: Lykovo-Feofanikha and Lykovo-Rustay (on the territory of the Kerzhensky Reserve )
3. The lack of any stores. Locals purchase food in a car shop .
