Biography

Zinaida Aleksandrovna Samsonova was born on October 14, 1924 in the village of Bobkovo of the Yegoryevsky district of the Moscow province of the RSFSR of the USSR (now the village of Yegoryevsky district of the Moscow region of the Russian Federation ) in the family of a rural blacksmith. Russian . In the early 30s, the Samsonov family moved to the neighboring village of Kolychevo . Here Zinaida Samsonova in 1939 graduated from a seven-year school. She worked as a nurse in a house for the disabled. In the summer of 1941 she was mobilized for the construction of defensive fortifications on the outskirts of Moscow . She worked at facilities in Babushkino and Naro-Fominsk . In February 1942, she enrolled in nursing courses at the Yegoryevsk Medical School, which she graduated in August 1942.

In the ranks of the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army Z. A. Samsonova was called up by the Yegoryevsky military commissariat in October 1942. She fought on the Stalingrad and Voronezh fronts, participated in the battles of Stalingrad and Kursk . Particularly distinguished in the battle for the Dnieper on the Bukrinsky bridgehead . In September 1943, the advanced units of the 47th Army of the Voronezh Front reached the Dnieper in the Kanev region of the Cherkasy region of the Ukrainian SSR . On September 24, 1943, with the first landing detachment, I crossed the river south of the village of Pekari ( Kanevsky district of the Cherkasy region of Ukraine ), the medical officer of the 667th Infantry Regiment of the 218th Infantry Division, Senior Sergeant Z. A. Samsonova. In the battle during the seizure of the bridgehead, she destroyed three German soldiers. On September 26-27, 1943, being in the first line of defense during numerous enemy counterattacks, the medical officer carried 30 wounded from the battlefield and evacuated them to the left bank. In the evening of September 27, 1943, in the battle for the village of Pekari, she took part in repelling the enemy counterattack, skillfully acting with a machine gun and trophy grenades.

Subsequently, Senior Sergeant Z. A. Samsonova participated in the Kiev offensive , Kiev defensive and Zhytomyr-Berdichev operations, the liberation of the city of Zhytomyr . At the end of November 1943, the division, in which the medical officer Samsonova served, was transferred to the Belarusian Front . During the Kalinkovichi-Mozyr offensive on January 27, 1944, in the battle for the Belarusian village of Kholm ( Gomel Region ), Senior Sergeant Zinaida Samsonova died from a German sniper bullet while trying to remove a wounded soldier from the neutral strip. She was buried in a mass grave in the village of Ozarichi, Kalinkovichi district, Gomel region of the Republic of Belarus .

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 3, 1944, Senior Sergeant Samsonova Zinaida Alexandrovna was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union.

Hero of the Soviet Union Z. A. Samsonova is dedicated to the famous poem of her brother-soldier, poetess Julia Drunina “Zinka”:

Zinka led us to attack
We made our way through black rye
By funnels and gully,
Through mortal lines.
We did not expect posthumous glory
We wanted to live with glory.

The light-haired soldier is lying?
