Biography

He graduated from the Ljubljana Academy of Music ( 1969 ), a student of Lucian Shkeryants (composition) and Danilo Svara (conducting). Then he improved his skills at the Vienna Conservatory under Hans Swarovski and in the Mozarteum at Bruno Maderna .

In 1972 - 1978 second conductor, from 1978 to 1991 chief conductor of the Orchestra of the Slovenian Philharmonic , simultaneously in 1979 - 1981 . led the Zagreb Symphony Orchestra . In 1989-2001 Chief Conductor of the Slovenicum Chamber Orchestra. In 2001 - 2006 led the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra .

Since 1989 he has been teaching at the Vienna University of Music, since 1991 a professor. Among his students, in particular, Kirill Petrenko .
