Born in the German-speaking canton of Thurgau in the northeast of Switzerland in the family of Monica and Max Hubman. [2]

According to Daniel himself, the area around his home in Switzerland, where he grew up not too "technical" for orientation. That is why at the junior level, he had problems at the starts in Scandinavia and this was one of the reasons why he decided to play for the Scandinavian clubs. His first club was Turun Suunistajat from Finland. Later, he moved to the more titled Norwegian club Kristiansand OK, which he now stands for (2009). [3]

During his first year at the adult level, Daniel combined full-time work and evening workouts. However, since 2007, he decided to become a professional athlete, that is, to spend all time only on the training process and live on income from sports results. As the athlete himself admits, this decision was given to him with difficulty, but certainly helped to achieve results. [3]

At the World Championships in the Czech Republic in 2008, all 4 types of programs ran. Won three of the four possible medals. After the sprint lost to the Russian Andrei Khramov in just two seconds. [4] was able to win gold in the long distance and a bronze medal in the relay on the final day of the championship. [five]

According to the results of 2008, it is number one in the world ranking. [6]

In 2009 he repeated his success over a long distance, for the second year in a row he won a gold medal and retained the first line in the world ranking. In 2014, he played at the World Championships in Italy, Trento. Daniel took three of four possible medals, all three silver. At the World Championships 2015 in Scottish Inverness , he became the sixth in the sprint, losing 9 seconds to the winner Jonas Leandersson.
