Yolanda of Anjou (Duchess of Lorraine)

Yolanda of Anjou ( November 2, 1428 - March 23, 1483 ) - Duchess of Lorraine from 1473 and Bara from 1480. Due to several titles, she is known as Yolanda of Lorraine and Yolanda of Anjou .

Board

In 1473 , after the death of his nephew Nicolas, Yolanda inherited the duchy of Lorraine, but soon passed it on to her son Rene . In 1480 , after the death of her father, she did the same with the Duchy of Bar.

Marriage and children

In 1445 she married her cousin Frederick II of Wodemon . Their marriage was a dynastic union.

  • Rene II of Lorraine ( 1451 - 1508 ), Duke of Lorraine. September 1, 1485 by his second marriage he married Philippe d'Egmont . Their great-granddaughter was Mary Stuart ;
  • Nicolas, Baron de Joinville, died in 1476 ;
  • Pierre, died in 1451 ;
  • Jeanne ( 1458 - 1480 ), from 1474 married to Charles IV, Duke of Anjou ;
  • Yolanda, died in 1500 , married to William II, the Landgrave of Hesse ;
  • Margarita ( 1463 - 1521 ), married to the Duke of Alanson René ( 1454 - 1492 ). Their great-grandson was Heinrich of Navarre , king of France .

  • According to conspiracy theory , based on a collection of forged documents The Secret Files of Henri Lobino , was the tenth Grand Master of the Order of the Priory of Zion .
  • She is the heroine of the opera " Iolanthe " by Tchaikovsky .
