Speed Skating World Cup

World Cup in Speed Skating - a series of winter sports competitions in speed skating , held under the auspices of the International Federation of Speed Skaters since the 1985/1986 season. They are carried out individually at separate distances (for men - 500 m, 1000 m, 1500 m and 5000 m / 10000 m, for women - 500 m, 1000 m, 1500 m and 3000 m / 5000 m). From the 2005/2006 season, the winner in team races is determined, from 2011/2012 - in the mass start and overall standings, from 20015/2016 - in the team sprint. A certain number of points is awarded for a place at a given distance in the stage, points received at the stages are added up and the winners of the World Cup are determined by their sum.

For six years from 2004 to 2009, the Cup was played at a non-Olympic ultra-short distance of 100 meters, but later the International Skating Federation decided to abandon it.

Since the 2008/2009 season, the Junior World Cup has also been held.

Earning points before the 2018/2019 season

A certain number of points is awarded for a place at a given distance of a stage, which is then summed up with points scored at other stages at this distance. The number of points per seat depends on the division in which the athlete competed, as well as on the number of participants in the division. For participation in the final stage, a slightly different number of points is awarded.
