" Patriarchina " - the historical self-name of the area in the modern Orekhovo-Zuevsky district of the Moscow region , including the city of Orekhovo-Zuevo and the villages to the south of it: Budkovo , Ionovo , Kabanovo , Likino-Dulyovo , Kudykino and others. Before the Revolution, the Old Believer population predominated in these places. .
History
Since the XIV century, these lands were in the Senezh volost and belonged first to the metropolitans , and then to the patriarchs of Moscow and all Russia . Over time, the Senezh lands were divided, one of the parts was the Kudykinskaya volost. Throughout the XIX and before the beginning of the XX century, the Kudykinsky volost of the Pokrovsky district was part of the Vladimir province . At that time, only the village of Zuevo was part of the Moscow province , in 1917 it was merged with the village of Orekhovo and transformed into the city of Orekhovo-Zuevo . Unlike other volosts formed on the former patriarchal lands, only in the Kudykinskoy volost, thanks in large part to the Old Believers, the self-name of this region - “Patriarchin” - remained until the middle of the 20th century.
In the 18th century, representatives of many Old Believer consents lived in these areas: the Beglopopovtsy , Fedoseyevtsy and others, but the Old Believers-Bespopovites of the Pomor Consent prevailed.
On the origin of the name itself, V.V. Khvalkovsky, who studied the history of the Church and his native places, wrote: “The villages of Budkovo , Ionovo and some others belonged to the blessed memory of the pious patriarchs (according to some information, the Moscow Patriarch Joseph ), hence the name“ Patriarchs “, And the area is“ Patriarchine “. At the time of Patriarch Nikon, the inhabitants of the Patriarchate, in spite of their great dependence on the patriarch , refused to accept innovations and remained faithful followers of the old faith , for which they were persecuted and oppressed. ” Even in the XVIII century, when the Synod ruled the Russian Church , local peasants said of themselves: “we are peasants of the former pious patriarchs - we are“ patriarchs ”.”
The "Patriarchine" as a special historical and cultural region, in the past populated mainly by Old Believers-Bespopovtsi , has practically not been studied throughout its existence. Turning their eyes to these lands, researchers often referred them to the Guslitsky outskirts, or considered them as a suburb of Orekhovo-Zuevo . However, in pre-revolutionary Russia Guslitsy and Patriarshin were not only in different counties, but also in different provinces (in Moscow and Vladimir, respectively), although they were close in tradition and culture.
