Kamijou Toma is a high school student. He has no psychic abilities, and he does not believe in magic and similar things. However, his right hand has an unusual feature: it neutralizes all the psychic, magical, etc., which it touches. One day, waking up in the morning, Toma found a girl hanging on the railing of the balcony in clothes that resembled the nun’s robe. She was hungry. The girl said that her name is Index ( イ ン デ ッ ク ス , indexus ), and that in her memory 103 thousand magic books forbidden by the church are stored. And also that magicians are hunting for her and her memory. At first, Tom did not believe her, but, as it soon became clear, what was said was not so far from the truth ...

Toma Kamijou ( Japanese 上 条 当 麻 Kamijou To: ma )

The magic name is Dedicatus 545. Her constant companion is a cat named Sphinx.

Mikoto Misaka ( Japanese 御 坂 美琴 Misaka Mikoto )

Seiyu - Rina Sato

One of the protagonists of the series, as well as the protagonist of the series and manga To Aru Kagaku no Railgun . One of the seven Academy City city espers with 5 is the highest level of ability, and ranks third among them. First year high school student. It seems unpredictable and dangerous to others, but in fact, it is very responsible, kind and smart. Although not a member of Justice, Kuroko often helps. He’s fanning from Gekkota, a toy frog, a fairly common souvenir and, in general, cute little things for children (which is terribly embarrassing). He leads a mobile lifestyle and wears shorts under his uniform skirt (to the great disappointment of Kuroko).

Against her will, she took part in an experiment to increase the ability of espers to level 6: her DNA was used to create 20 thousand clones with part of her ability, so that, killing them, the Accelerator, recognized as the only one who was able to rise to level 6 , developed his abilities further.

After the experiment was interrupted with the assistance of Toma - as well as due to the destruction of the satellite with the Supercomputer "Diagram Tree", Misaka fell in love with Tom.

Stail Magnus ( ス テ イ ル ＝ マ グ ヌ ス Suteira Magunus )

Seiyu - Kisho Taniyama

The strongest esper in Academy City, and subsequently one of the protagonists of the series. The real name is unknown, but in the first season it is mentioned that the name consisted of three characters, and the surname - of two. It looks and behaves like a complete sadist, but in fact, the same victim of experiments as the clones of Misaki. Others are afraid and hate him for this power. About the same age as Tom. His strength is “Change of vectors”, a form of telekinesis that allows him to change the direction of the vectors of any thing he touches. This feature allows the Accelerator to make changes such as, for example, changing the direction of the blood flow in the human body. His ability is automatic, which means that he must subconsciously allow gravity to act on him. Also, his body blocks ultraviolet rays, therefore, his hair is white and his skin is fair, that is, his body does not produce melanin. Very attached to Last Order, but does not show a view. Later joins the organization GROUP.

The unique capabilities of the Accelerator make it the object of experiments to create level 6 espers. Since there are only seven level 5 espers in Academy City, scientists have formed a special “level-up” program. The accelerator must kill 20,000 espers of level 3: the clones of Mikoto Misaki. Mikoto is trying to stop the experiment by saving his sisters. In the end, Tom defeats the Accelerator, using his power of “ Slayer of Illusions ” .

He was brought to the City Academy at an early age, when his strength first manifested itself, but due to a lack of understanding of his abilities, people were afraid of the Accelerator and in some cases tried to kill. Due to numerous attempts on his life and many experiments, the Accelerator became closed and selfish. He stopped understanding people, with the exception of Kikyo Yoshikawa, the only scientist who took care of him and saved his life.

Later, the Accelerator takes on a more heroic role, protecting the little girl “Last Order” - a 20001 clone of Misaki. For the first time rescuing, as he calls her, a “little thing,” a man named Ao Amai shoots him in the head, hitting the brain. Because of this wound, he lost his computational abilities and the ability to change the vectors of objects. But with the help of the Misak network, it was possible to some extent restore this ability.

In the second season, Accelerator returns, but now he can use only half of his strength, fighting only 15 minutes. However, during the events related to the abduction of Last Order, the Accelerator “woke up”, acquired “Black Wings” and the ability to issue commands in the Angelic dialect, thanks to which he easily defeated Kiharu Amata.

Avaki Musujime ( Japanese 结 标 淡 希 Musujime Avaki )

Seiyu - Harumi Sakurai

Sophomore Academy for girls Kirigoka, esper level 4. Her ability is teleportation. Moving Goals ( я 座标 移动 Jahe: Ido:) , however, it covers more possibilities than Kuroko’s ability. This fear prevents her from becoming a level 5 esper. Avaki played a cameo role in the episode “Essence is Unknown - Counter Stop” in the first season of the anime, but as a full-fledged heroine appeared in the eighth volume of the novel and the episode “Chip” in the second season of the anime, where she steals a fragment of the destroyed Diagram Tree and becomes the opponent of Kuroko and Mikoto . During the battle with the Accelerator, the chip was destroyed. Avaki is one of the guides to the building that hosts Alistair Crowley. He lives with Komoe Tsukuyomi. She later joined the GROUP.
