Sergey Apollonovich Zhilkin ( German: Sergei Schilkin ; December 27, 1915 , Petrograd - July 18, 2007 , Berlin ) is a German entrepreneur of Russian origin, "Berlin vodka king" [1] .
Origin
His father, Apollon Fedorovich Zhilkin (December 14, 1877 - June 24, 1944), a native of Siberia, was a producer of alcoholic beverages in St. Petersburg and a supplier of the royal court. He lived in St. Petersburg, on Gularnaya street (now Liza Chaykina) 37 and on the embankment of the Fontanka River 82. He had the rank of provincial secretary . He was associated with the Salamander Insurance Partnership. Mother - Natalya Fedorovna Zhilkina (August 26, 1885 - December 2, 1974).
In 1921, the Zhilkin family emigrated to Germany.
Life Path
During the war, S. A. Zhilkin fought on the side of the Germans in the 17th Wehrmacht Panzer Division against the Red Army . His younger brother Dmitry Zhilkin died on May 8, 1945 during the defense of the Spandau Citadel [2] .
In 1945, Sergey Zhilkin, together with his wife Erna (1914-1999), took over the reins of the vodka factory, which was founded by his parents Apollon Fedorovich and Natalya Fedorovna Zhilkina in 1932 in Berlin and was destroyed during the war. After restoration, its factory became one of the largest alcoholic beverage companies in the GDR . In 1972, the plant was nationalized. However, Zhilkin remained its director until his retirement in 1981 .
In 1990, during the reprivatization, the plant was returned to Zhilkin, who in 1992 handed it over to his son-in-law, Peter Mir. In the same 1992, the Shilkin-Dagvino subsidiary CJSC JV was established in St. Petersburg (Russia), and in 1999 - Zaren Imports Ltd in the town of Grand Rapids, Michigan (USA). Since 2001, the company has been led by the grandson of S. A. Zhilkin Patrick Mir [3] .
Sergey Apollonovich Zhilkin was awarded the Order of Merit to the Federal Republic of Germany and the Order of Merit to the Fatherland (GDR) of the 3rd degree.
Currently, his company is called SCHILKIN GmbH & Co. KG.
S. A. Zhilkin died on July 18, 2007 and was buried in Berlin at the Kaulsdorf city cemetery [4] .
