History

Half-GPA (1988-1989)

Alexei "Colonel" Hrynov appeared on the Nizhny Novgorod rock scene in 1986 . He performed his songs solo with a guitar. He participated in numerous rock festivals throughout the former USSR, toured. At the end of 1988, the Colonel teamed up with the Dzerzhinsky GPA . The group became known as “Paul-GPA” (Colonel and GPA). Then its composition was as follows:

  • Sergey "Chizh" Chigrakov ;
  • Michael "Mike" Starover;
  • Eugene "Powerful" Barinov ;
  • Alexey "Colonel" Hrynov .

The group has performed quite a lot and successfully. At the end of 1989, Chizh left for Kharkov , after which the “Half-GPA” automatically disintegrated.

In the period 1990-1995, the Colonel practically stopped his concert activity, with the exception of single haphazard performances.

First Call Album (1996)

The group "Colonel and fellow soldiers" was formed in January 1996 on the idea of Sergei Firsov with the support of Oleg Grabko . A well-known Petersburg collector and record producer of the Leningrad Rock Club suggested Grabko to record one of two undeservedly “forgotten” musicians: Alexander Chernetsky or Alexei “Colonel” Khrynov and gave him a listen to an audio cassette with recordings of both. Fassov recorded this cassette under the name “Volga da Oka” back in 1985 [1] .

It so happened that the Colonel found the opportunity to come to St. Petersburg for recording. So January 16, 1996 at the St. Petersburg recording studio " Melody " with the help of sound engineer Alexander Dokshin began recording the first album, still unnamed at that time. For three shifts, “fish” was recorded (a voice with a guitar cut off by a special board). In addition, three songs of Dmitry Nekrasov (DNA) were recorded, with which the Colonel arrived. All other instruments were recorded after the departure of Hrynov's friends to Nizhny Novgorod. The recording lasted until the summer and several more things were finally finished only in the fall. The group was based on the songs of Alexei “Colonel” Hrynov and Dmitry Nekrasov.

The composition of the group during the recording of the album:

  • Alexey "Colonel" Hrynov - vocals , guitar ;
  • Dmitry "Lysy" Nekrasov - vocals , bass , backing vocals ;
  • Andrey “Thin” Vasiliev ( DDT ) - guitar , percussion ;
  • Leonid Fedorov ( AuktsYon ) - acoustic guitar , acoustic bass , percussion, backing vocals;
  • Mikhail Kolovsky ( AuktsYon ) - tube ;
  • Sergey "Chizh" Chigrakov ( Chizh & Co ) - guitars , keys , marimba , drums , percussion, accordion , backing vocals;
  • Eugene "Powerful" Barinov ( Chizh & Co ) - drums, percussion, accordion.

In late 1996, the first single “Colonel and Fellow Soldiers” was released , and then the group’s album - “First Call” .

A joint tour of the cities of Russia and several concerts of the group took place in St. Petersburg and Moscow , but systematic performances were almost impossible due to the busyness of the band members in their groups. Basically, the Colonel performs alone with a guitar or accompanied by free musicians. At the Rock Fuzz festival in St. Petersburg at the Yubileiny Sports Palace, Nikita Zaitsev ( DDT ), a violin, joined the Fellow Soldier.

Further History (1997—2011)

The second album “War and Love” was recorded in 1997 mainly with the help of Sergei “Chizh” Chigrakov, who was joined by Igor “Dotsa” Dotsenko ( DDT ). The members of the previous album recorded in several songs. Two songs on backing vocals were sung by Marina Shalagaeva (Aty-Baty) and Tatyana Prass (Babsley). The repertoire of the album includes songs by Khrynov, Dmitry Nekrasov, Chizh and Nikolai "Dremy" by Dremuchev. The album was produced by Oleg Grabko (Bomba-Piter inc./Manchester files) and this was their last collaboration. Due to the financial crisis in August 1998, the album "went to the shelf" and was released only in September 1999 .

In 2000, a permanent "Nizhny Novgorod" group was formed:

  • Alexey "Colonel" Hrynov - vocals, acoustic guitar;
  • Maxim Povedsky - violin, guitar;
  • Sergey Zharinov - bass;
  • Dmitry Gorlyansky - keys;
  • Valery Malakhin - drums;
  • Alexey "Commander" Rozinov - backing vocals, percussion.

In 2002, the place of the tragically departed Valery Malakhin was taken by Igor Domashenko. In this composition, in 2003 the third album of the group was recorded - “But how they walked” (it was released only in 2006 ). In 2004, Dmitry Gorlansky leaves the group. His place is taken by Mark Firer.

“Colonel and fellow soldiers” performed a lot of club concerts, took part in several festivals, such as “Fill the sky with kindness”, “ Open windows ”, “ Invasion ”, “Crossroads”, “Prometheus”.

In 2006, work began on the fourth album, which was supposed to be called Two Suns . Since October 2006, Andrei Vasiliev has been arranging; at the beginning of 2007, all vocal parts were recorded. During the life of a musician, this work was never completed.

On September 4, 2008, keyboardist Mark Firer died. After 8 days - September 12, 2008 Alexei "Colonel" Hrynov died of a heart attack.

Farewell to the Colonel took place on September 14 in the building of Russian Radio, where Alex worked. He was buried at the Maryina Roscha cemetery in Nizhny Novgorod.

In fact, with the death of Khrynov, the group "Colonel and fellow soldiers" ceased to exist.

April 16, 2011 on the label "Geometry" was released the last album of the group "Colonel and fellow soldiers" "Two Suns" + bonus DVD. Musical producer of the album Andrei “Khudoi” Vasiliev drew famous musicians to the record: Sergey “Chizh” Chigrakov, Vadim Kurylyov , backing vocalists DDT (duet “Rejoice”); Nizhny Novgorod violinist Maxim Povedsky also took part in the work. In 2010-11. specially for publication, Vasiliev translated the album.

The Bonus DVD “Two Suns” includes more than 5 hours of video - mostly live concert recordings. In addition, it includes the acoustic demo recorded by the Colonel of all the songs on the album, the video sequence for which is a photo shoot for Two Suns and its video recording. The author of the disc was Alexander Chernetsky (" Different People "). Since 2008, in the city of Gorodets, Nizhny Novgorod Region, the festival "Music of Generations" named after Alexei "Colonel" Hrynov has been held. In 2011, it will be held in the program of the Festival of the Ancient City on September 10. The bands “..Odinopolchane”, “Southern Highway”, “MOPR”, Alexander Yakovlev and young Gorodets musicians will take part in it.
