The song received extremely positive reviews from critics and was released as the first single from the Girl album, rising to fifth place in the UK National Chart. In Minogue's homeland, All I Wanna Do has won eleventh position. Single sales in the UK alone totaled over 195,000 copies, securing BPI silver status.
The triumphant return of Danny, after three years of silence, laid the foundation for commercial success - an explicit photo shoot for the calendar with the singer was arranged as a promotion, the label had hopes for good sales of the album. All I Wanna Do was the first release after contracting with Warner Bros. Records. The multimillion-dollar deal foreshadowed Danny's worldwide fame, especially after the success of the first single. But Girl’s album position wasn’t as high.
Clip
A colorful clip for the song All I Wanna Do was shot in the absence of a specific plot. The video shows Minogue lying on the bed and talking on the phone. During the clip, several times there were episodes showing different people fascinated watching this clip in their computers. In the video, Danny is also shown riding a motorcycle, and after that - sitting in an armchair and hugging a fluffy snow-white cat. During several episodes, there were shots that apparently belong to the Minogue family video archive (the girl swinging on a swing is probably Danny in childhood). The style of the clip can be described as glamorous, with a predominance of pink tones. In this regard, some fans and critics expressed the opinion that in the video the singer looks like a sort of barbie girl.
