Biography
Tikamatsu was born in 1653 presumably in a samurai family. Received a good education. Together with his father, who became Ronin , he moved to Kyoto in the second half of the 1660s.
For 20 years, collaborated with the Kyoto Kabuki Theater and its lead actor Sakata Tojuro (1647-1709). In 1705, he stopped writing for the kabuki theater and went to Osaka , where he wrote plays for the puppet theater of Takeramotoza , led by Takemoto Hidayu.
In total, he wrote about 20 plays for the Kabuki Theater and more than 100 for the Bunraku Theater.
