Mikhail Yurievich Markelov (born December 5, 1966 ) is a Russian journalist and politician, deputy of the State Duma of the fourth and sixth [2] convocations, television journalist, brother of the murdered lawyer Stanislav Markelov .

Political career
From July 24, 2004 to December 2007 - Member of the Fourth State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation from the Rodina electoral association. Mikhail Markelov became a deputy after the termination of the deputy powers of Viktor Gerashchenko , elected from the Rodina bloc. Markelov was the next registered candidate from the Rodina bloc and became a deputy in accordance with the current legislation on elections.
In the State Duma, he became a member of the faction " Fair Russia -" Motherland "(national-patriotic union) ." He was a member of the State Duma Committee on Security. He was the leader of the Tver regional branch of the Just Russia party until May 2010, on May 28, 2010 Vyacheslav Grigoriev was elected to this post
He was a candidate for the post of mayor of Tver in the elections from "Fair Russia", held on December 2, 2007 , in which he took third place, receiving 9.03% of the vote [3] [4] .
Since December 4, 2011, the plenipotentiary deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the VI convocation. Elected as part of the federal list of candidates nominated by the All-Russian Political Party "UNITED RUSSIA" [5] .
Currently (2019) - Advisor to the head of the United Russia faction in the State Duma.
