He graduated from a teacher’s school in Cieszyn ( 1934 ), worked as a teacher and at the same time studied at the Silesian Conservatory in Katowice, which he graduated in 1939 as a music teacher. After the Second World War, he continued his musical education and in 1951 he graduated from the conducting department of the Katowice Higher School of Music at Grzegorz Fitelberg . In 1953 - 1990 he led the Silesian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra ; at the same time in 1968 - 1984, the chief conductor of the Odense Symphony Orchestra . In 1979, he was at the forefront of the Grzegorz Fitelberg International Conducting Competition in Katowice, in 1980 he became one of the founders of the Karl Nielsen International Singing Competition in Odense . Since 1954 he taught at the Katowice Higher School of Music, since 1984 - professor.
He recorded, in particular, all the vocal and symphonic works of Karol Szymanowski , including the opera King Roger.
