History
Built on the site of an 18th-century wooden kitchen.
In the Dutch kitchen, meals were prepared for the crews of ships in the harbor of Kronstadt.
The kitchen consisted of 8 compartments, each with a stove with two boilers for 10 buckets. Each branch was given to ships under a certain flag (Swedish, English, French, Russian and others, in connection with which conflicts often occurred between different nations, which were decided in a navy way). Firewood, food and water were brought with them - in order to prevent cooking on ships, because careless handling of fire on the ship or on the other side could lead to a fire. Therefore, the kitchen is located in such an uncomfortable place - to make it difficult to spread fire to the city and ships.
In 1828, they began to charge a port fee for using the kitchen, depending on the capacity of the vessel - 3 kopecks per fins , in the 1870s it was increased to 9 kopecks.
In 1885, the Sea Canal was opened, and most ships began to go to St. Petersburg . In Kronstadt, only coal vessels continued to be unloaded. In this regard, the building was no longer used for its intended purpose, and homeless people began to come into it at night, and the police began to organize raids ending in deportations. Projects for the re-equipment of the building appeared, but things did not go further than projects. The last project dates back to 1912: according to it, a power station was supposed to appear instead of a long-empty building (project by S. N. Petrov). As a result, we limited ourselves to reworking the east wing, where 4 generators were located, operating until 1927, when they were all replaced by one generator for 400 liters. with. He worked before the war .
With the outbreak of war, the building was again handed over to the sailors. From that time until now, it has been used as a warehouse.
