Piranesi - raster editor for processing 3-dimensional models. Designed specifically for architects , designers , visualizers, in order to create non-photorealistic rendering projects. Being 2-dimensional, reads information from 3-dimensional graphics . Color parameters are taken into account (information about the color of each pixel is preserved), material, depth. The program was developed by the English company Informatix . Named in honor of the famous Italian architect, graphic artist, master of architectural landscapes - Giovanni Battista Piranesi . Piranesi is currently available on Mac OS and Microsoft Windows platforms .

Opportunities
Allows you to turn the visualization into colorful, realistic models; create illustrations stylized as hand-drawn paintings. Ideal for forming presentations based on 3-dimensional models . It gives an opportunity to present the project taking into account the season, lighting, entourage.
Features
- Piranesi stores in a two-dimensional image information about the volume properties of the model. All parameters are processed, and the tools are applied from a perspective.
- In addition to the color channel ( RGB ), work is carried out in the channels of depth (depth) and materials (materials).
- Drawing and effects are applied to the specified parts of the image, without requiring the creation of masks. This is possible thanks to the block system built into Piranesi. This feature of the editor helps to save a lot of time and effort.
- Piranesi allows you to draw illustrations in various styles: coal, watercolor , sketch , pencil drawing, landscape , etc.
- Work is much faster than in real 3D , and the result is more realistic than in conventional 2D.
- 2D or 3D filters, effects, materials, and drawing tools are applied to individual elements of the scene.
- The ability to insert two-dimensional objects, taking into account the depth of their location and the generation of three-dimensional shadows.
- Piranesi allows for repeated execution of actions with various parameters.
- The program contains about 3000 raster images , textures , photo-realistic and non-photo-realistic applications for use in artistic representations.
Work Basics
Any procedures are applied both to the entire image (for example, blurring colors or the Blur filter), as well as to individual objects, surfaces or their groups.
- Blocks (locks) allow you to perform certain manipulations on individual parts of the image . You can set the block plane, material, color or orientation ; thanks to this, creating masks is completely unnecessary. For example, when the plane block is installed, drawing, shading, and effects will be applied only to the selected faces, without going beyond the edges. With the material block turned on - to the specified materials.
- Textures. Piranesi is equipped with a huge library of textures : facades of buildings, landscape elements, facing materials, etc. Due to the large number of additional settings, the properties of any texture can be changed and optimized specifically for each individual case. Automatically scaled when overlaid, depending on the distance to the observation point. The program allows you to add your own textures.
- Applications (cutouts) . The Piranesi application suite includes 2- and 3-dimensional, photo-realistic and non-photo-realistic images, such as human figures, vegetation, street fittings, transportation, and the like. Objects are automatically scaled and superimposed (or, on the contrary, βenclosedβ) depending on the information about the depth of the scene and their position in it. At the same time, they even cast geometrically correct shadows. Piranesi also allows you to add your own.
- Artistic effects . Creating effects is possible with various techniques. For example, the Enhanced Fade operation allows you to create nebulae that melt away haze and similar effects. Operation Captured Texture (grabbed texture) makes it easy to build reflections and manipulate them. Also, styles, fills, brushes, stamps and many other tools are used to create non-photorealistic effects.
- Brushes. Overriding brushes are provided in Piranesi, and their settings can be saved for further reuse. One of the properties is the automatic orientation of the brushes in space, depending on the plane on which you are painting. Thanks to this, it has become much easier to save perspective when drawing. The trace of the brush changes its shape depending on the imaginary orientation of the surface on which it is being painted (that is, you sort of work with volumetric objects).
- Styles. Styles in Piranesi mean the sequence of operations with which a certain effect is achieved (for example, watercolor, sketch, pencil sketch, etc.). The program contains a ready-made library of styles. The Style Recorder feature allows you to create and save your own.
- Shine. As well as in other renders , full work with light is implemented.
