Iryna Dmytriyevna Farion ( Ukrainian. Iryna Dmitrievna Farion , b. May 1, 1964 , Lviv , Ukrainian SSR , USSR ) - Ukrainian political and public figure . Doctor of Philology (2015), member of the All-Ukrainian Association "Freedom" . Content

Education and Research

In 1987 she graduated from the Faculty of Philology of Lviv State University. Ivan Franko , specialty "Ukrainian philology" [4] . Associate Professor of the Department of Ukrainian Language and Applied Linguistics of the National University "Lviv Polytechnic" . Candidate of Philological Sciences (1996). Doctor of Philology (2015). Author of several monographs and articles. Winner of the Oleksa Hirnyk Prize (2004). Winner of the All-Ukrainian Prize named after Boris Grinchenko (2008).

Political activities

Member of the Komsomol since September 1978 [5] .

In April 1987, Irina Fahrion became a candidate member of the CPSU and received a party card number 08932425, and a year later, on April 15, 1988, she was accepted as a member of the party (State Archives of Lviv region, P-92 fund, list 2, case 258). [6] [7] [8] .

Fahrion herself, who for a long time claimed [5] that she was not involved in the Communist Party, admitted her membership in the CPSU in November 2013 after publication of evidence by journalists, but stated that she left it in 1989 [9] . It was noted that the Komsomol description of Irina Fahrion provided by journalists said that she encouraged the study of the Russian language by foreign students [5] . Later Fahrion said that she had joined the CPSU in order to “destroy it from the inside” [10] .

Since 2005, a member of the All-Ukrainian Association "Freedom" . In the parliamentary elections in Ukraine in 2006 and 2007 , a candidate for people's deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine from VO “Freedom” (both times was third on the list). In 2012—2014 - Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, was elected from the single-member constituency number 116 (Lviv region) [1] , the chairman of the subcommittee on higher education of the Committee on Science and Education [2] . At the extraordinary parliamentary elections in October 2014 in the same district, she took only third place and did not go to parliament, losing to candidates from the “Self-help” party Irina Podolyak and promoted to the Radical Party Valeria Veremchuk. Freedom itself was not able to overcome the 5% barrier.

Lawsuit

  • In April 2013, the District Administrative Court of Kiev rejected the claim of Irina Fahrion to the Verkhovna Rada’s Office over the failure to provide for the translation into the state language of people's deputies at meetings of the Committee on Science and Education [11] .

In July 2011, Fahrion, answering the questions of journalists from the Polemika website, about the well-known kindergarten scandal, stated that ““ Vanya ”,“ Masha ”are disgusting forms of the Ukrainian language”, which are a polluting surzhik. According to Fahrion,

  • Party of Regions voters - “clean criminals”,
  • the priests of the UOC MP "have nothing to do with Christianity," but are part of the "Federal Security Service of Russia,"
  • VO “Freedom” is not a democratic organization; Its voters are “people who live in mansions”: “We are not going to give anything to anyone. We, as deputies, must make such decisions that create the conditions for an investor to come and build something here ” [12] .

In connection with the issue of giving Russian the status of a second state to stabilize the situation during the political crisis of 2014, she said [13] :

“I hope that the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, where among the idiotic requirements there is a requirement of state status for the language of the occupation of Ukraine from 1654, was the last nail in the heads of the highlands in Ukraine. Scandals

In February 2010, Irina Fahrion hit the headlines after a video was published in which she performs in a kindergarten, urging children not to use Russian versions of names. The actions of Fahrion caused outrage among some parents, psychologists, media and politicians of Ukraine [16] [17] . Parents of children, who considered that their children had been insulted, filed a lawsuit against Irina Fahrion [18] .

On June 3, 2010, Fahrion declared that Ukrainians, who call their native language Russian, are “degenerate Ukrainians” who must be brought to criminal responsibility [19] .

In June 2012, at the initiative of Fahrion, the driver of the Lviv route taxi was fired, who refused to turn off the Russian-language music radio at her request [20] .

In June 2012, the Party of Regions appealed to the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine with a request to assess the statements of opposition representatives about the Russian language; in particular, the statements of the deputy of the Lviv regional council I. Fahrion [21] .

On May 8, 2013, at a funeral rally in memory of the victims of the Second World War, Fahrion said that the Soviet “victory” would never become a Ukrainian “peremog” [22] .

In June 2013, Irina Fahrion appealed to the Security Service of Ukraine, accusing 148 deputies of high treason who appealed to the Polish Sejm to recognize the Volyn tragedy as genocide of the Polish people [23] . In August 2013, the SBU responded by Fahrion that the inspection did not reveal any signs of high treason in the actions of deputies [24] .

In March 2013, Communist Alexander Zubchevsky sued Irina Fahrion, demanding compensation for moral damage for insulting him. On September 24, 2013, the Shevchenko district court of Lviv partially satisfied the claim, obliging I. Fahrion to pay Zubchevsky a compensation in the amount of 20 thousand hryvnias [25] . Irina Fahrion refused to execute the decision of the court [26] .

In April 2014, she said about the speeches of deputies of the Verkhovna Rada in Russian, that “either Ham or the occupant speak another language. Khamov are sent, and the invaders are shot. ” [27]

Answering a journalist's question about the military operation in the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, she stated that participants of separatist actions in the eastern regions of Ukraine, who are not Ukrainians, but “climb into the country,” need to be shot [28] .

For a long time Fahrion categorically denied its membership in the CPSU [29] , but in the fall of 2013 this information was still confirmed by the archives of the CPSU [5] . After the publication of documents confirming its membership in the CPSU, Fahrion, with laughter, stated that “Eagles do not report to hyenas” [30] . On the air of the Lviv Wave radio station, Fahrion, however, acknowledged that in 1988 she joined the CPSU "on the grounds of career growth," having quit the party as early as the following 1989 [30] . The leader of VO Svoboda, Oleg Tyagnibok, called the accusations against Fahrion "electoral lustration." His arguments boiled down to the fact that “hysteria around the possible membership of Fahrion in the CPSU” is an order of power that uses a new political technology against opponents [31] . As noted in the comments of the Kiev Center for Political Studies and Conflictology, the documents found noticeably undermined the authority of Fahrion in a “nationally conscious” environment. In Lviv, at the stops of public transport and on the places of visual advertising, stickers with the inscription “CPSU” appeared, depicting Fahrion and Lenin. In this case, journalists are outraged not so much by the “communist past” Fahrion, as by her rudeness against the journalists themselves [31] .

On April 16, 2015, after the news of the murder of the publicist and writer Oles Buzyna, Fahrion stated that [32] : “The degenerate Buzin is killed. Perhaps this sudden death somehow neutralizes the dirt spilled by that scum. They are not convinced. These come into the world, so that we are cleared of mental silt and create a spiritual vertical. On November 1, 2018, Russian sanctions were imposed against 322 citizens of Ukraine, including Irina Fahrion [36] .

On March 3, 2019, in a post on the social network Facebook, publicly insulted and wished death in "terrible agony" to Kiev journalist Dmitry Gordon . Her statement was supported by the politician Igor Stepura and also wished the death of a journalist. Dmitry Gordon interpreted this as inciting hatred on ethnic and linguistic grounds, the pursuit of freedom of opinion and a call for murder. In this regard, he wrote a statement to the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, the SBU and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Responding to Gordon on his accusations about his relationship with the FSB , Fahrion in his post on Facebook called the showman and presidential candidate Vladimir Zelensky "bydlyak", and people intending to vote for him, "morons."

Criminal prosecution in the Russian Federation

On July 8, 2015, the Investigation Committee of Russia opened a criminal case against Irina Fahrion on the grounds of crimes under Part 4 of Art. 33, nn. "A, l" Part 2 of Art. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (incitement to commit a murder) and Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (incitement of hatred or hostility, as well as the humiliation of human dignity), in fact, her speech on October 15, 2014 at a rally in Kiev calling for the destruction of Russia as a state, and of Russians as a group of people on a national basis [37] .

Personal Life

Irina Fahrion was married to Ostap Semchishin (born in 1967). Married daughter was Sophia (born in 1989). Currently Fahrion divorced. [38] . He lives in Lviv on the street Masaryk.
