History
It has been known since the 16th century as a place of the Grodno Povet of the Trok Voivodeship , since 1793 the Grodno Voivodeship of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania . He had a coat of arms. During the Northern War of 1700-21, it was occupied by Swedish troops led by Charles XII. In 1786 he received the right to annual fairs. Since 1795, as part of Prussia, since 1807 - of the Duchy of Warsaw, since 1815 as part of the Russian Empire.
Since 1900 - the village. Since 1921, as part of Poland, in the Grodno region. Since 1939, in the BSSR, the center of the Bialystok region, since 1944 - the Grodno region. Since 1959 in the Grodno region.
During World War II, the Nazis drove the local Jews into the ghetto , and 539 people were killed all of them [11] .
