Biography

Born March 25, 1913 in c. Plotnikovo [1] Alekseevsky volost of the Tomsk district of the Tomsk province (now in the Novosibirsk region of the Novosibirsk region ) in a peasant family. Russian

Graduated from 6 classes. In 1929 he moved to Novosibirsk . He worked at the Trud factory.

He was drafted into the Red Army by the Novosibirsk district military enlistment office in 1939 . He graduated from the Tomsk Military Infantry School. Member of the Soviet-Finnish war of 1939-1940. Member of the CPSU since 1942 .

On the front of World War II from June 24, 1941, he commanded the battalion of the 362nd Upper Dnieper Red Banner Rifle Division . The battalion under the command of Zhukov on January 15, 1945 was especially distinguished when breaking through the strongly fortified enemy defenses in the area of ​​the settlement of Nova Mshadla (southwest of the city of Pulawy) and the city of Zvolen ( Poland ). Well-organized interaction between shooters, sappers and artillerymen ensured quick success. In this battle, Zhukov's battalion destroyed up to three enemy companies and captured 125 fascists.

After the war, Major G. Zhukov was in stock. He lived in Odessa [2] . He worked as a master at the Odessa Mechanical Plant.

Memory

In Novosibirsk, the name of Hero of the Soviet Union Georgy Ivanovich Zhukov is immortalized on the Heroes Alley at the Monument of Glory.

Rewards

  • By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated March 24, 1945, Major G. I. Zhukov was awarded the rank of Hero of the Soviet Union to the battalion commander of the 1210th Infantry Regiment (362nd Infantry Division, 33rd Army, 1st Belorussian Front).
  • He was awarded two orders of the Red Banner, orders of Lenin, Alexander Nevsky, World War 1 and 2, and medals.
